I didn't mind him retiring, but going to a different team is not acceptable.

he won't go to a different team. he may come back. i think he'd like to be in the position of having to earn his position back from Aaron Rodgers. if the rumors are true LOOK OUT he's gonna be on fire!!!

either way i'll accept his choice.

Maybe a little history lesson might make the Packers ownership rethink their stance...
The 49ers wanted Montana to retire, when they felt it was time to bring on Steve Young. Monatana didn't want to, so he became a Kansas City Chief and ended up beating the Niners the one time they played while Joe was a Chief. Although Joe's last game wasn't in a Niners uniform, he will always be remembered and listed as a 49er because the Niners resigned him for one day, then he retired.
Pretty classy move by then owner Eddie D.... 8)

I say if Bret has had a change of heart, let him play for whoever, just remember to resign him for a day, so all will be right with history.

Kinda like a new star trek movie with the original cast - the quest for more money and to milk your fame for every last cent

Even though I am only a very moderate Favre fan, I complete disagree. What I see is a hyper-competitive athlete who can't accept moving on with his life. He's probably been playing organized football of some form for the last 30 years. Anyway...from what I've been reading, Favre has been in contact with the Pack and the team management has been less than energetic in bringing him back. The "I might retire, maybe I'll play" saga was going on for a few years and now evolved to 'I am retired...maybe". It's not fair to the team. As a fan, I find it sad that this is going on. For the Packers, I do believe it is best for them to just move on....or we'll be right back to this whole maybe retiring, maybe playing crap again next spring. And do you think Rodgers will just go back to the bench quietly?

Even Michael Jordan couldn't retire without one last hurrah with the Washington Wizards, and because he is MJ no one would dare say no. Even though his game was definitely fading no one dared say it was definitely time until it was a couple years too late to retire with complete dignity.
