Just curious?!?!

I started geo-caching before I started building my tear; but I've found an overlap between the two forums.... met some geo-cachers who are TD'ers and vice versa. Like I said, I am just curious..... how many other geo-cachers are out there in this forum???

I started caching Labor Day weekend of 2007. I'm at 550 finds and at the current rate of finds I should qualify for my 1K Gold ammo can sometime around February or March of 2009.... but it's just tooo damn hot to get out in the woods right now!!! I could do the LPC route; but I'm trying to limit myself to D/T ratings of 2/2 or higher. Of the 550 so far, I have 14 FTF's... one being a 5/5!!

I tried geo-caching a couple years ago. It wasn't for us, but there are a number of geo-cachers here! Teardropping is a natural extension of geo-caching or visa versa.

I just signed up. I don't know much about it -- can I use my tom tom for GPS? Letter boxing is probably more my speed.

Guilty, we use an older Garmin geko 201 for the hunt - it's a little more challenging because you don't have an overlay of maps just the coordinates and compass direction along with the distance - a bit more fun when you finally zero in - longest trip between wayward points 2.7 miles - yea it was really out there - that’s the closest pavement

I've been Geocaching for about a year. 657 Finds. I use a Garmin 60CSX to cache with. I've had a lot of fun doing it. and have met a lot of new people. I found a lot of interesting places that i would have never seen otherwise. It's difficult, but not impossible to cache with some car GPSs. You need to be able to enter coordinates. Garmin is most compatible with Geocaching.com as is a PC platform. Caching on the road pulling a tear is also difficult because you have to have a safe place to park the trailer. It really hurts when I pass cache site and I know I can't stop. I did find that truck stops usually have a cache or two in place. Lots of parking here. I do try to get out once I'm at a campground. Although I have a caching partner, I frequently cache alone.

I started caching in June of 2002...there were maybe 120 caches in the whole state at that time...now there are 250+ within 50 miles of my house and 3000+ statewide, quite a change, LOL! I use a Garmin Vista GPS with Mapsource US Topos.

I haven't been actively caching the past year unless something really interesting pops up, but I hope to get going again in the Fall. I have a series of hydrocaches ready to go out, but it's just been too darned HOT lately, LOL!

I've thought about Geocaching; but it might be hard holding a laptop and running thru the woods in the rain.

Yep I guess the hand-held GPS is in my future. Maybe I'll win a Iphone and lifetime service.

I have MANY Hobbies that dovetail into my trailer build. ;)

Hey TinksDad, I read this post about 4 days ago and this is my first time back to this site. I've seen the word geocaching before and my brain flipped right over it with images of rock collecting. I said nope not my cup of tea. Well.......

I came back and clicked the linky up there..... spent 5 hours out with the kids and i'm hooked... I needed another hobby like I need a hole in my head but here I am... trying to figure out which caches I want to hit next in my area lol. so far out of 8, found 6, 1 of them was too many muggles to search, and 1 dnf but will be going back. yea I'm hooked Image

Maybe you don't think you need another hobby, but you just spent a whole lot of quality time with your kids! Bet the kids are begging to go again. You got outdoors and had fun. You probably are looking at your surroundings in a new light and just maybe discovered a nearby area you had no idea existed.

I don't think it is so much one hobby overlapping another as one hobby making another possible.

I belong to a reenacting group the lives the Middle Ages. I have a large 10 x 12 canvas tent with a wood-burning stove for the spring and fall. It is a lot to set up for just the weekend. I need something that I can pull into a field and set up with no fuss. And it must be cheap and lite. AND WARM.

Then I found 'Tears' and the other small trailers. The world of TT's and it's events sound interesting but not knowing any of you does not interest me.

The more I come to the board the more I want to meet some of you for advice ONLY.

Now after a time of following the threads here I think it might be fun to 'hang' with some of you.

But time is the problem. I wear 90 lbs of armor to fight full contact and I take belly dancing classes. I spend time on the range each week shooting and I join protest groups protecting gun rights and groups protecting Gay rights.

I am 61 years old and I have found most hobbies and activities way over lap each other.
As a child I was my own imaginary friend.
