My Trailer's Name

Postby edlfrey » Wed Aug 20, 2008 10:55 am

Some of you saw my trailer at this year's Dam Gathering where I had the picture of a Flying Pig mounted to the right side tail light frame. On June 27th some low life stole it! Prior to that time my xB was named Pegasus (the Flying Horse) and the trailer was the Flying Pig. After the theft I agonized over new names and have made my choices.

Clues:
1)The tow vehicle will now be called "DAPPLE".
2)I am an avid reader - mostly fiction, history and travel.
3)You don't need to be a knight errant to go on a quest.

Your assignment, if you chose to accept it, is to tell me what I have renamed my trailer. More clues will be given as the week progresses if no one guesses it. :)

Since I botched the clues so badly I have closed this post with the answer.

How about Bock, as in the beer.

Doppel Bock Clear amber with a thick, sandy head that makes a good effort to stick around, despite the high-alcohol odds. Very light carbonation. A nose of straw and nutty sweetness hinting at candied walnuts. In the mouth it is vinous, sweet and full without being cloying, lacking the saccharine aftertaste of most added-sugar strong beers. Instead, there is a lasting natural syrup with maple and honey notes that finishes with a pleasant hop tang. Additional sips bring out notes of almonds and baked apples. This is definitely a sipper, a winter warmer.

I googled Dopple and got: "Dopplr (www.dopplr.com) lets you share your travel plans, gives you user-generated travel tips for places you're heading to and tells you about coincidences, such as being in the same city as a friend at the same time."

What about something related to Pink Floyd?

Wrong on both counts. The dopplr.com site does look like it has some fun "travel quizes" but that is not what I have in mind. Pink Floyd is not in the picture.

Well, that's all I've got. :/

Good luck with this. I've never named any of my vehicles, dogs or birds. And my kids are named after family members.

Guess my creativity lies elsewhere. *shrug*

“Doppelhaus”
The German building law calls a Doppelhaus a building with two entrances. Doppelhaus the result of two together built single family houses is colloquial. If thus two houses at the property border are together built, one speaks of the double house building method. Both halves are arranged mostly similar. Normally it concerns with the common wall (partition) a side panel of the buildings. If it concerns the rear wall, one does not speak of bakes tons of baking land development, is with the two halves a symmetrical building method to be recognized, speaks one of one-sided building method.
If more than two buildings with their side panels push together, we speak of a terraced house or a multiple store. The advantages of Doppelhäusern, terraced houses and multiple stores are opposite freely standing buildings the more favorable utilization of surface of properties and a reduction of the heating costs by a smaller external wall portion.

Sorry, Elumia :( Although Doppel towing Doppelhaus does have some merit.

It doesn't seem like my second clue has helped people much, look for a third one by the end of the day! 8)

I screwed up.

I knew that the names that I had selected were obscure but did not think that it would be as hard for you guys as it has been. The reason for that is my POOr spelling and then an inability to see my own error.

I have corrected the first clue to spell the name of my tow vehicle correctly. It is now, and should have been "DAPPLE"

:x Spelling is not one of my best skills and has caused me a lot of trouble, this instance being the latest but probably not my last. :x

Edited for spelling error.
