I'm on match.com and a few others. I'm just wondering if there are any good ones I'm missing. It would be cool to find a hottie teardrop lover! LOL!

Okay.... I'll admit .... I have been on match and yahoo and didn't pay for either , well did pay for yahoo one 3 mo. deal and it was a waste.... of time and money.

I know two guy friends that said eHarmony was a joke... I never tried that one.

I'll pm you about a couple of others.

After I lost my spouse, May, 2007, I sat alone in my house, tried to get out when I could and was pretty miserable.

When the cold, short, nights of winter started to settle in, I was sitting in my house one night and said I can't go on like this. A friend suggested yahoo personals. I signed up for it and forgot about it. Two months later, I went back to figure out if I had gotten any responses. I had.... 9 of them.

3 were too far away. After thinking further another 3 were too far away to do a steady commute to... I went out with one of the other 3. Her picture was at least 5 years old and 20 pounds lighter. I barely recognized her from her picture. She was a sad person, still mourning her husbands death after 5 years and just coming off a bad relationship. Our lunch was like I was being interviewed.

I left feeling, 'hey, at least I got out of the house'....

I also had by then signed up for 'plenty of fish'. I had one date from that site and it was very nice, but again, too far away to be driving back and forth.

I cut down my search area to 10 miles, from 25 which had been cut down from 50.... I received and sent several letters of introduction over about a month or so.

Back to yahoo personals. Of the 3 remaining out of the original 9, I went out on a date with one of them. She lived 10 miles away, was nice looking, great personality, owned her own business. We went out 3 days before my birthday. It was a nice chatty time. I had an Irish Mist for an after dinner cordial. I got a call from her a couple of days later to stop over to her business location. She handed me a bag. Inside was a large bottle of Irish Mist and a few other items she had gotten me for my birthday.....

We are now under one roof. A year ago I was in misery and mental anguish. Now, life is good. I can not believe at my age I was able to meet someone so compatible (most of the time :} ...) and be enjoying myself so much.

I also know, after talking to others, that my story is a minority one. Some join and meet nothing but losers and weirdos..... I lucked out. And like they say, you can't win if you don't play.

---

Just an aside, I'm editing this to let you know it reminded me how important she is to me, so I went down, put my arms around her and gave her a kiss on the back of her neck.... she likes that.

One of my good friends met her husband on Match.com. He's a great guy and they're great together.
I was pretty close to going that route myself before I found my true love in the real-world. But this was back in '99 when the whole internet dating scene was just getting rolling.
By now, there are singles-sites for every possible interest. I'd just do a Google search for "camping singles", "outdoor singles", or whatever you happen to be into. I know that the Sierra Club also has singles chapters.
Good luck!

I tried eharmony...total crap. Yahoo....tried it and have quit. I'm on match.com right now, but it's not happening. There seems to be scammers on both match and yahoo, or players just looking to mess around. Seems there is a lot of distrust, but I have dated a couple women I have met online and know there are some real ones out there. The biggest complaint I have of match.com is that they require you to pay for everything, even reading an email that someone paid to send to you, and yet so many women seem to be on there just to "window shop" for the "perfect" guy. Really, it's time to :throw PC: and get out in the real world again.

Hey...got another email about webcams.... :o
just kidding.

I only drive a Honda Accord.... but I built a teardrop trailer. Someone told me that that might be kinda of intimidating to a guy.... well, then it wouldn't be the guy for me.

I've actually had the best luck on the Oklahoma City Singles line.... yes, a phone singles line with no photos.... but have "met " way way more men , even though I'm still....

.... single.....
