I really don't think it would be legal for a company to "loan" big-dollar jewels to a candidates wife to wear to the campaign's biggest event.
Besides, her net worth is estimated to be about 100-million bucks, so she can afford that kind of outfit.
It wouldn't be hard for Vanity Fair to come up with a pretty good estimate of the value of these items, either.
Hey, a few days ago, I saw a 1958 Ferrari sell for over $2.3 million. It was a sweet car, but I can't imagine having the kind of money you need to buy a $2.3 million dollar classic car. Likewise, I can not identify with what it must be like to wear $300,000 worth of clothing and jewelry.
I have nothing against the extremely wealthy -- I just can't wrap my head around the idea of buying a 2-million dollar car, or a 200-thousand dollar pair of ear rings.
