Yikes Ike!!!

Hold on to your hats Texas, Ike is coming.

Looks like he is playing tricks with the weather forecasters. Dr. Jeff Masters' WunderBlog

Here in P'cola and all along the Gulf Coast are experiencing flooding from storm surge.

From the Pensacola News Journal

Hurricane Ike and high tide have combined to produce 20-foot waves and flooding in parts of Pensacola Beach this morning.

About 6 inches of water has swamped the Bimini Beach Bar at Hemingway's restaurant at Quietwater Beach.

High tide was at 8:28 a.m. today.

Bob West, public safety director with the Santa Rosa Island Authority, estimated waves caused by Hurricane Ike are about 20 feet.

He said the island has been breached twice: near the Fort Pickens gate and at Park East.


I hope those of you in the path are preparing to hunker down. Please stay safe.

Mary K. please be careful and don't take any chances. I don't think you would any way. I have been thinking about you and trying to watch the weather for down there. As for the bikini, the waves would probably rip it right off, then what?
