No human remains, possible mountain lion or bear got to him, or did he survive the crash and died trying to find help

Or maybe living happily somewhere else, having successfully staged his own demise? Conspiracy theorists want to know!

He was an adventurer! I bet I could live on the premiums  I really feel for his family and friends.

Lieutenant-Colonel Cynthia Ryan, the official spokeswoman of the Civil Air Patrol wrote:"It's not like we didn't have our eyes open. We found six other planes while we were looking for him. We're pretty good at what we do.

Really??? Then just exactly why are they just now finding those six other planes???? Inquiring minds want to know. 8) 8)

Reading the press release: "Anderson said no human remains were found in the wreckage." Of course, the animals probably ate him but still...

He had a $52,000 life insurance policy with Lloyds of London

Actually it was a $52 MILLION life insurance policy

Did I misread the article? I read that there were body parts among the wreckage.

They've updated it. The original didn't have that ... nor does this one have a lot of detail. Weird, though, finding his ID a quarter-mile away with the wreckage so cleanly in one spot.

As my flight instructor often told me, "there are some old pilots and some bold pilots, but no old, bold pilots." Flying blind into a cloud can result in a full speed impact into the granite down below. He didn't do himself in, because he still had some more records to set before he cashed in his chips. Long live the pilots that are always pushing the envelope.

Personally, when the weather got bad, I just turned around and went back to the airport. This is a difficult thing for some to do, because of the thinking lilke: "I made it last time, so I can do it again". Bummer.

Also, to the uninformed, it is not a requirement that one files a flight plan, just a good idea in case something goes wrong. Kind of like telling your wife that you are going to drive to the store and telling her that if you are not back in an hour, call the police and look on the I-15 freeway.

Was the plane missing the battery and some of the lights? This may be some proof that he is building a TD.
