Grrrrrr, RATS!

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Grrrrrr, RATS!

Postby caseydog » Sun Oct 12, 2008 4:09 pm

I've always had a little rat problem, but this year is horrible. And I live in the suburbs. I'm seeing them everyday in my yard. My neighbor says he's getting about 8 per week in his glue traps in his garage.

Now the problem is in the news.

Anyone else out there seeing an increase in these vermon?

Ohhh wow.. A rat invasion ..No such problem here except with this lil fella.
A forest mouse..We live on the edge of a forest so these lil fellas like to come around the house looking for food or to build a perfect nest in spring. No rats around though.

Just be carefull wich one you get. Some of them will put holes in wood fences, walls, other expensive things.. And they aren't exotic or expensive ones anymore.

BYW - God inspired someone to create a BB Gun - did not actually make it himself (God is way to busy). Did you know that you could put an eye out with one of those things?? especially a rats eye!

Our only problem was with red squirrels. And I think they finally moved away. But time will tell.

Just consider them opportunities to sharpen your target practice skills on. I doubt anyone would complain if you were to thump a few with a BB gun. They ought to be taken care of as their gestation period isn't all that long...just more in the future. Hantavirus also could potentially be a concern.

As a kid in Alaska, sometimes I'd get to go to Nome for the summer. A picnic lunch, box of 22 shells and sitting on the roof of a wrecked car in the dump, bs'ing with friends....it was a great and much simpler time. The guys at the dump didn't complain, and we never had any firearm related accident! Go figure...Doug

No rats but I figure in another few weeks as winter sets in I'll certainly have mice in the house again this year. Can't seem to figure out where the little bastages get in at!

Rich...knowing what you have for a "heater" to take care of the vermin...just be careful and don't upset Vickie with shooting in the house! You could chum them however, into your own little outdoor target range!  Doug

Nope, haven't heard of that problem here in Oklahoma....

so you can keep them down there, along with those pesky fire ants.

Just think you'll be at LCG in less than 2 weeks!!! Lock up the house!!!
Some things are way over my head !! ...but it keeps me looking UP!

As a fellow Frisconite, we have not had any rodent problems this year. When we first moved in 9 years ago we had several in the attic that must have gotten in during construction. Traps got rid of them. Now we have trouble with squirrels trying to get into the attic, but no rodents in the yard. I think our neighborhood may be too established.

BTW, it's illegal to fire BB guns, pellet guns or other such weapons in the Frisco city limits. :(
