What's the scariest/creepiest/spookiest thing to happen to U

Seeing as how Halloween is almost here, tells us your story. The scarier the better.

When I was 9 or 10 years old, there was a couple in their fifties, I guess.....because they seemed ancient. And every Halloween they would set up a coffin with the man lying down in it, in a suit and he was made up kind of a greenish shade. His wife would answer the door crying and tell us her husband had just passed away, but that he loved Halloween and he wanted to give out candy one more time. Well we were escorted into the parlor and there on sawhorses was a coffin and even though the house was really dark, just a few candles, you could see that there was someone laying in it. She would tell us that the candy was in a bowl on his chest in the coffin to help ourselves, because that would make him happy. Now remember, we are only 9 or 10, and it is really dark, and it seems like there was some spooky music playing. Weeellllllll when we got close and closed our eyes and reached into the bowl, the guy sat up. They must of had a really good screen door, because I know I went through it without bothering to open it. I didn't stop running for a block and then I wasn't in the mood to trick or treat anymore that night. Now days, that would probably be considered child abuse, but back then it was considered fun.........at least for the adults, who could be heard laughing from a block away.

Being stopped by Italian Polizei on a trip through rural Italy. They didn't speak English, we didn't speak Italian and my husband chuckled when we couldn't understand what they were trying to tell us (our headlight was out). They did not see the humor and made their point by banging loudly on the front of the car with a nightstick. Yeah, it scared me!

One October evening, about sundown, fooling around in my Ozarks front yard , I suddenly felt a weird chill in the air.

Looking up I saw something in the sky that I could not identify.

It was between me and the quarter moon, and I watched it sail across the face of the moon.

It appeared to be a saucer, with a tall cup siting upside-down in the middle, trailing a long rope down the back. The saucer looked black, the cup gold and the rope silvery-white.

I have no idea how far away it was or what size it was, because it was in the open sky and I had no reference points to estimate it by. Looked about the size of a regular thimble held up at arm's length, today.

No reports of weather balloons in the area at the time.
I still think of it as a UFO sighting, and remembering it lo these many years later -- it was before the first moon landing -- I still get cold chills and a creepy feeling.

On my way to Alaska in 2004, encountered a very large spider in the restroom at a rest stop. Didn't really have to go, so I left quickly. :NC

Oh, come on now. Out of 7000 + people on this forum, we are the only ones to have a scary, spooky, creepy or even funny thing happen on or around Halloween, or at any other time? When you were a child, a teenager or even as an adult. No ghostie's or ghoulie's or things that went bump in the night ? Come on.....confession is good for the soul and sometimes you can even give others a good scare or a a good laugh. :)

So share !!!!! I'm waiting !!!!

Okay... this is probably more spiritual than spooky... but it did FREAK ME OUT !!!!

Just before my ex and I became separated, I came downstairs and like usual he left the front section of the newspaper spread out on the kitchen table. Nothing unusual about that, he always got up for work first, he would read the paper and fix coffee and leave the front section there, and take the back part with the crossword.

I came down that morning and found the newspaper there...not the front page part but the Life / Metro seciont. I then noticed that an article on the front page of the Life section had been totally circled , or rather ya know ... in ball point blue pen .. the article was circled around the edges of the paragraph.

I started reading to see what the article was... it was more of a moral issue about guilt and confession and well .. etc.... and I thought " why does he want me to read this????" I started going upstairs, looking thru drawers and such, trying to figure out what he was intending to tell me. I even made myself late for work, freaking out about it . it was just weird.

Even weirder when I asked him later why he circled that article... he said he didn't , he didn't even know what article I was talking about . Didn't recall reading it and said he had not drawn or circled anything in the paper that morning.

Ok...I honestly believe it was a Holy Spirit thing... that's all I can say about it.
Some things are way over my head !! ...but it keeps me looking UP!
