Joe's Sports & Auto Is Liquidating All Stores

Postby halfdome, Danny » Sat Apr 11, 2009 5:57 pm

One of my favorite Pacific Northwest Sporting Goods, Camping & Auto store chains was up for sale and the only offer was from the liquidators. This company started out as G.I. Joes after WWII. Went today to get battery cables and a hidden radio antenna for TD #3. I've shopped there for lots of TD building and camping supplies. Most items are 10 - 20% off now and my local store was very busy. I'm thinking that I may have to start buying parts way ahead of my build to ensure I get it instead of having to shop for another supplier like the Knox Foam closing & now Joes. :D Danny

I picked up a Lodge 8" dutch oven there today for $30.00. It was mis-marked. I didn't fell too bad, they jacked the prices up 20% 2 weeks ago. The other 8" was marked $49.99 with 10% off.

A side note. I went up to the Mt. Vernon Sportsman's Warehouse yesterday, there inventory & prices are getting better. They even had Lodge 6" dutch ovens in stock.

Sounds like you got a good deal on that D.O. The Lodge section was picked over at the Puyallup store :( . Yes stores have been known to jack up prices just before a liquidation. The items I purchased today were at the normal price before the discount. I would have bought them even if they weren't being liquidated. I hate to pay shipping if it's available at a fair price locally. :D Danny

The company doing the sale off is the same one that sold off circuit city and was called out for jacking the prices up to beyond reason before discounting back down to full retail. I hope there are some reall bargins at the Joes sell off. I shopped at GI Joes surplus store original location as a kid with my grandpa. He bought a huge surplus army tent to replace his home washed out in the Vanport floods.

Thats too bad they are going under! I much rather get what I need there before I go to REI or Schucks.

I'm going to stop by the Kirkland store tomorrow and see what sort of deals they might have lying around.

I'm sort of suprised they couldn't hang on another 60-days into the spring/summer rush. Then again maybe they're hoping that will help empty the stores out faster.

Mrs. Dog and I went to the one in Beaverton to pick up a small tent we had our eye on. It was $39.00 a couple of months ago. The same tent was $45.00 when we went it to get it. Their 'deals' aren't that great.

Yeah, we stopped in the Isaquah Sunday to look at stoves. They had a Camp Chef Weekender for $129 which wasn't too bad. I was hoping for a deeper cut. The discounts didn't seem all that great to us either.

I stopped in the Kirkland store and the place was destroyed!
The isles looked like they just had a "Walmart Black Friday Sale!"

Eveything was everywhere - it was a mess. All they really had left was fishing gear and clothes. Most everything else had been cleared out which I found sort of interesting because as was said the prices were not great
