Intersting day

Postby ssrjim » Wed Apr 15, 2009 6:56 pm

Some of you may know that I'm a school teacher and we had a very interesting day. I was in the computer lab and hear a big bang. I quickly look out the window just in time to see a plane slam into the ground.

I had another teacher in the room and had him get the children out as quickly as possible. I flew around the building to help the pilot dialing 911 at the sametime. About the time I get the gate open the pilots walked up and were OK. All minor cuts and about then the school nurse shows up so I took a few pictures.

I was in the room right behind the plane

I moved away after I spot the leak in the right wings but the rest of the picture are here: http://gallery.me.com/ramjim#100370

Thank goodness no one in the building was hurt. Us teachers gotta be ready at any moment. lol Taught in a building that the adjoining building's roof blow off and into the windows of my building once. No one hurt that time either. God was watchin' over those children.

Sure looks like the pilot made a good landing, but didn't have enough room to stop before catching the fence, which put the nose of the plane in the dirt.

Yep, looks like he would have made a good landing if it wasn't for the fence....... :?

I was just noticing that for pictures taken on a phone they are not too bad.

This story made our local news - in DC. And the pilot walked away unharmed.

Thanks for sharing.

He _did_ make a good landing. Particularly when I assume that the landing needed to be made quickly, and under some duress.

A GOOD landing is when you can walk away.

A GREAT landing is when you can reuse the plane.
