Friday's storm damage.

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Friday's storm damage.

Postby Miriam C. » Sun May 10, 2009 12:53 pm

Oh boy! We got up Friday morning like any other day. Turned on the computer, and looked at the weather. I went to wake the kids! Boy did that look nasty. Didn't make it out of the room before all hell broke loose. Hail hit the roof waking the kids.

So we got up looked outside to see my 60"+ Oak tree sway. Now this thing is over 2 feet across so it shouldn't sway or bend. We waited it out expecting our sirens to go off. They failed. The cable tv and puter were now off line. Oh well we get storms at 70mph just about every year. Welcome to the Ozarks. I have seen hurricanes and this was one.

Well the wind died down so looked out to see how many limbs were down only to hear a crack. Ran back away from the sliding glass door. Seconds later the tree hit the house and deck.

We are so very greatful the house survived and no one was injured. Now we get to clean up the mess..........

Notice the dents in the door.

WOW!

Glad you and yours are ok.

I guess the good part is that you still have some trees left standing, and now you can have some firewood for camping.

 Oh yeah. the td is in the garage on the other side of the house. It can get hit but it would have to be the larger Oak or a South wind to do it...... :worship: And if one more thing hits my car I am hauling it to the salvage yard. :R

 Thanks Susann, we have about 4 cords already from the ice storms. Maybe we need to cut some Warpony fire size. 8)

Glad to see and hear that you are all OK. Storms can be a very scary thing.

Yikes!
That is what you call a close call.
Glad to hear no one got hurt and your house survived.
I bet come summer you will be missing that tree. At least you still have other trees.
Cleaning up the yard can't be any fun, but at least your house isn't partly demolished. That would have been terrible.

Happy to hear that nobody got hurt and your house is ok!

I think that tree would make good campfire fuel! :campfire:

I hate to see great trees go that way.

I'm glad you and yours are okay. Wind and storms suck! Well, they blow . . . You know what I mean.
Still graced with two eyes and ten fingers (due in no small part to luck!).

Just when you think a problem is solved, an uglier result replaces it.

Jack, I have long been a worrier and darn near called you over his motor cycle trip. Wind was amazing and Arkansas had more storms than we had. Happy he got out of it soon enough.
