Made In China Loved in America

Postby Bigwoods » Fri Jul 31, 2009 11:23 am

My daughter and her family are in a central province in China and have signed all the papers to bring home a new Grand Daughter. Her name is Xia Yan or Summer Swallow. When they get home next week her name will be Emma-Kate. Their 3 children are with them and she has already blended in with the family or maybe I should say took over the family. We are very excited.

It has been and adventure. E-mails are intercepted and Yahoo Messenger is fiddled with as we communicate. Dave was told this might happen as he is an Air Force Officer.

Congrats! I would love to do the same in a few years. Just an FYI, there is a new TV show called Ni Hao, Kai Lan. It's like Dora but the little girl speaks chinese. You can get the toys and DVDs at Target. My daughter loves it (2.5 yrs) and just bought the Sleepytime Kai Lan stuffed doll yesterday. Might make a nice gift for your new arrival.

Congratulations on your new family addition! You are fortunate that she is so healthy and happy. It is good that you have been able to save and help a child from China.

Every being should have the opportunity to develop to his or her full potential. But, due to narrow mindedness, baby girls are often unwanted in China and are given up or even slaughtered, in favor of having a boy. Some baby girls over there live in orphanages where they don't ever even get the chance to leave their cribs until they are so old that they are growth stunted both physically and mentally. (Once adopted and brought to America, they usually recover; but it can take a while.)

When the current generation of children in China grows up, they are going to find out just how important females are because I doubt there will be enough to marry all the males. The females that don't get adopted will have been neglected and won't have proper social skills and will probably end up in brothels and the like. It's really sad.

Any Chinese-born female that is adopted and brought to the USA is very, very fortunate.

She is adorable! I bet you just can't wait to get your hands on her and give her some hugs. I do hope she warms up to MOMMY real quick. I know how that must hurt. I think you expect the little ones to take right up with you because you are so anxious to love them and don't really understand what they are going through. Congratulations and good luck. It won't be long until she realizes that this is her family and she won't be taken away. I will be looking forward to more pictures.
