Drawing Programs... Need some advice FAST!!!

I talked with Cafepress on the phone earlier this evening and they informed me that my images that I'm uploading are only 72dpi. They require at least 200dpi and recommend 300dpi as the way to go. (That explains why my images were so large when I built them to the required pixel sizes)
I'm using a program called Image Composer 1.5 that was a freebie when I purchased Microsoft FrontPage. I'm not seeing anything that will allow me to change the dpi settings, in fact I had to do a deep search on the Microsoft website to even find any info at all on this drawing program. It looks like it is pretty outdated.
The kids and I went to Staples and Costco this evening and none of the sales people knew what dpi's (dots per inch) were, so....I need some advice, because I need to straighten some stuff out in a hurry...
Anyone have any suggestions on which drawing program I should get?

Dean, I just ran your dilemma by a friend, he suggested Corel Draw. I have no clue what the cost will be, but he says it's the best program available for what you're trying to do.

There are a lot of them that will do what you need rather easily. One that I use all the time because it is pretty user friendly is Micrografx Windows Draw, Ulead's PhotoImpact is pretty good, Adobe Photoshop is a big favorite of some, tho a little pricey and JASC Paintshop Pro also comes to mind.
Just about all the decent, newer drawing programs let you choose your resolution.
Some are rather steep.. but there's always torrents....

It's freeware. Does as much as photoshop.

I ordered an instant download of Corel Draw Suite 12, but "Gee Wally" it won't let me downlaod it until after 24 hrs. have past.
So I'm downloading Gimp right now to try and get my little problem fixed.
(Gee it's already at 22%)
I'm gonna really miss my funky little drawing program that I've been using, I know that thing inside out...

I use a program called Paint Shop Pro for all my graphics. You can download a full trial at http://www.jasc.com.

Save the graphics for Cafepress as PNG files for the best quality.

Gee, I dunno... those diskettes are buried in a layer of dust... Windows for Workgroups was the pits compared to Win95... which was the pits compared to Win98SE, which was the pits compared to WinXP.

I'll admit that Windows XP works good... a little bit too good, for all the hackers and the spyware program writers out there.

I guess I'll have to upgrade you to a Mac with 10.4 Tiger...
