Broken Guitar

Postby halfdome, Danny » Tue Nov 24, 2009 8:40 pm

Interesting story.

A musician named Dave Carroll recently had difficulty with United Airlines. United apparently damaged his treasured Taylor guitar ($3500) during a flight. Dave spent over 9 months trying to get United to pay for the damages caused by baggage handlers to his custom Taylor guitar. During his final exchange with the United Customer Relations Manager, he stated that he was left with no choice other than to create a music video for YouTube exposing their lack of cooperation. The Manager responded : "Good luck with that one, pal".

So Dave posted a retaliatory video on YouTube. The video has since received over 5.5 million hits. United Airlines contacted the musician and attempted settlement in exchange for pulling the video. Naturally his response was: "Good luck with that one, pal".

Taylor Guitars of El Cajon, CA sent the musician 2 new custom guitars in appreciation for the product recognition from the video that has lead to a sharp increase in orders.

Cool story. I never heard of El Cajon until the company I was hired by a company based out of there. Now I wonder if I can con them out of a Taylor guitar for a Christmas bonus.

Now that's a clever video! Good for him. I'm glad to see he did something about it. Thanks for sharing it. I wouldn't be surprised if we see him moving up in the entertainment world either. He's got a really good singing voice. Perhaps someone in the industry will see the video and decide that he's got talent worth promoting. That would be an even better boost for him....I can just hear it..."So how did you get your big break?...Well I made this video about my broken guitar and the rest was history..."

Boy I will bet they will think twice before they do anything like that again. Good for him and hope that they learned something from that, you don't fool with a passenger that has a damaged item. :applause:

Dave Carroll told United Airlines that he was going to write three songs, not just one.
Here's Song 2
I think Dave has designs on Ms. Irlweg... :eyebrows:
