How on Earth Did Donnie Osmond Win Dancing w/the Stars????

Well, I'll tell he certainly didn't beat out Mya with dancing talent, showmanship, or skill! He's a good dancer, but even the judges agreed that she was the leader in this year's pack of dancer... not because she's an R&B artist. She displayed very good technique, a regular Juliet Prouse

He most likely won because he has larger fan base: Mormon Church, Fans of his Las Vegas show, Utah citizens, old "Donny and Marie" fans.

I was speechless when they announced that he'd won....but just like the professional that she is, Mya congratulated Donnie and his partner w/o showing any resentment.

Oh well, what can you do?

Just my 2cents.

Same reason Mario Lopez didn't win.

I agree! Mya, Mario...and all who lost to Jerry Rice  the year he made it to the finals were robbed. Jerry Rice was HOR-RI-BLE (to be said with a horrified schrill or blood-curdling scream). His performance was such a shock because I had seen him do all kinds of things with his body to make all of those fantastic receptions. I just assumed that he could move beautifully in other venues. I was soooo wrong.

They need a better way to neutralize the influence of a "broad fan-base" factor...something equivalent to a "z-score". I don't blame Donnie at all he's played by the same rules as Mya...and Mario, but the scales had "two sets of weights" so to speak.

Aside from being bad dancers, someone like the ski board champ and the kick boxing guy really didn't have a chance because there is an isolated demographic that even knew of them prior to DWTSs.

I was shocked, too. Although he pulled out all the stops and did some really good dances last night, I thought he'd get 2nd place. When they announced the winner, even Donny looked surprised.

This morning, on Good Morning America, they interviewed the three final contestants. During that time, they said that Mya had the highest number of points from the judges but that Donny overcame that with the most phone-in viewer points. She was the most gracious looser I have ever seen and, in my book, she is more of a winner than she would have been otherwise. I suspect ABC will try to do something to make it up to her, maybe a special show or lots of extra guest appearances.

Well, I have no idea who should have or should not have won. I can not dance. I did watch a couple nights, but slept through most of it.

I thought they all could dance pretty good. I liked Kelly Osborne. I know she was not in the class of some of the others, but she had a good personality, a likable kid.

My wife and daughter made me dance last summer at the daughters wedding. The daughter said she would never speak to me again, if I did not dance with her. What else could I do? I had to make a complete fool of myself in public....

A good thing she was so good looking, no one even noticed me :applause:

* I think we have just found our 1st contestant for Dancing with the Teardroppers! :applause:

Yes, I liked Kelly Osbourne too! This time all of the ones who made it to the finals were good dancers.

** "She was the most gracious looser..." Yes, I was impressed by how she remain composed. Her expression seemmed to be genuinely happy for Donnie; it made me wonder if she knew ahead of time. I wouldn't have spit on him or anything :? , but my expression probably would have shown some disappointment.
