Europe under the hands of a Severe Snowstorm.

Postby Classic Finn » Sun Dec 20, 2009 8:36 am

We are getting hit hard at present with a severe snowstorm reaching from England to the Black Sea. Here in Finland weve received 15cm of the white stuff in a matter of an hour.

This is stopping or slowing Airlines, Trains and Ships.

The Euro Tunnel from England to France is closed according to the news as well as many European Airports.

So a white Xmas is certainly to be had. Temps of -9 celcius is the temp here at our house at the moment.

Read about it here in English.

I heard about that last night along with the 4 Eurostar trains that punked out in the Chunnel. Stranded 2000 people for up to 16 hours (overnight). That sounded pretty freaky.

Interestingly, it looks colder in Germany and northern France than it does up by you guys according to my trusty Wii weather channel.

They are getting the cold blast harder than us. I just got in the house from shoveling and need to go out again after a bit. Had to come in for some fresh coffee.

The Dusseldorf Airport is closed in Germany also. :o

However, it would be great camping in the tear right now.

One of my friends is from Germany, and his family is mostly still in Germany. He was commenting a few weeks ago about how it hadn't snowed yet in Germany, and how the weather there was more like Texas than Germany.

What a difference a few weeks makes.

It seems like there are these extreme weather shifts all over this year.

On the news now that 4 people have died so far in this storm in automobile accidents in our area alone. Highways are frozen with black ice which makes it extremely dangerous to drive.

And 0 visibilty on the highways at the moment.

The Sun does funny things to the Earth ....don't it?

The U.S. east coast got it this weekend, and we in the Old NW territory will get it next.

I'm thinikin' the 15" rims are a good winter option for our TD "to-be".

I did it....had to make a test-sleep-over in my TD, to see how could it would get inside. The outside temp was around -8C but the inside went from +25C down to around +15C during the night.....without heater!
I was sleeping like a baby even though my doors aren't finished yet.....a bit of could air could get in.

So I'm confident that it will hold out the cold when my doors are fixed :)

Denmark is covered with snow and ice with temp down to -13C
My house in Sweden says -18.5C outside and inside (the house is not heated when I'm not there) is -7.5C :o

Sauna time. A tub of cold beer just outside the door and some of that sausage you cook over the sauna heater. That is what this type of weather i made for.

Classic Finn,

It sounds like this is the perfect time to test the limits of your Teardrop's heater.

Here is Texas in the DFW metroplex, the forecast for Christmas Eve is possible snow. I'd better get some firewood.
