Burn out? Or just a lazy day?

Postby Larwyn » Sat Jun 11, 2005 1:31 pm

There have been rainy days that I have gone out and worked under a tarp trying to make some progress on the Escap Pod. Other days when the weather just made it impossable to work out there. I spent a good part of those days wishing I could get out there and do somthing. Today is sunny and dry 90 degrees at one in the afternoon. Slept quite late (8:30 am), and got the day off to a slow start after working out of town all week. My lady Lanza and even the dog Riley are gone this weekend so I am here alone. It should be a perfect day to get out there and make some major progress. Guess it's just not a teardrop kind of day for me. When I did go out and raise the flap on the EZ UP, I sat and stared for a while, thought of several diffent things I could do, then came back in the house to escape them. It seems on this day I am just plain lazy. Wouldn't even be on the computer righ now if it were not simply sitting here in my way. Anybody else ever have that kind of day?

Just got back from hot, pollen-ized, humid, Lake George, yesterday.... today, I just can't get my butt in gear.... usually I unpack and put everything away when I get home.... it just sat all night and I piece-mealed it today....

I did recharge the tear battery and put the solar panel on... does that count?

Oh, I turned the water on to water the garden......

Now, I'm feeling tired again...... that's why god invented TV, I guess... and the history channel.

Been there didn't do that.

Today's been kind of a lazy day for me too. I've been applying urethane to my interior cabin skins. I go out sand, and apply the next coat. Then, I come inside and hang out here and watch TV for a couple of hours. Then, go back out side and repeat the cycle all over again. I'm currently waiting for the third and final coat to dry. It's a good job for a hot and muggy summer day.

That's happened to me too. I found that we need to take a break and rest from time to time. And not just rest from the physical act of building, but rest from the thinking about and planning of the build. Just don't rest too long, or you won't get back to your build. :o

Hmm this happens to me almost every time I plan on working on the tear. Today I took the day off work specifically to work on it. I ended up watching TV, messing around on the computer, napping, hanging out with the wife. I finally got out to the garage very late.

What usually happens is I hem and haw before going out to the garage, but once I get out there the time flys by. It seems like there isn't enough time to make sawdust.

I'm lovin' this thread. Thought I was the only lazy around.

This spring: grass growing and Old Snapper won't start - 2 weeks fiddlin' - Fix one thing another goes wrong. So tired when through just walk past the TD. Finally just bought a Deere - Now the Snapper runs fine. It was just lonely I think. Actually after replacing gear under the fly wheel I did'nt clean the Kroil Oil off the shaft and sheared the pin. Since I'd already had the fly wheel off it just didn't occur to me to check it again.

Two Deaths; Hospital full of sick folks;
Cleaning up after the Ice Storm
Now: annual conference - 1 week
VBS: one week
Vacation: 2 weeks at the retirement house hanging and finishing dry wall
1 Week in Ft Walton Beach - If the hurricane doesn't blow it away

Oh well, I'm down to the doors and hatch. Good enough reason to take a break. :?

I'm feeling kind of lazy today here too. But I'm surrounded by boxes that I know need to be unpacked. No cable until Tuesday, so no tv, and I'm tapped into someone else's wireless connection that only works on my laptop if I don't wiggle around too much....so can't even surf too much. Guess I might just have to tackle boxes......

I'll probably get burned, but a while back a young guy came on the forum and in one of his first posts he mentioned "pirating a picture from plans". Quite a few took him to task. I sent him an email and took the time to welcome him. I told him to get a thick skin fast and that if the truth of the matter was known probably a lot of pirating was done by forum members. I hope that he has read these posts.

Ol Timer, I was puzzled when I read your post. You referred to a thread, I remembered, written by a newcomer who wanted to "pirate" prints from plans. But, with all due respect, what in the blazes does that have to do with this thread................which seems to me to be about procrastination or variations of it?

I find it no worse to talk about pirating a photo off a plan, than I do to have persons on the forum talking about using someone elses internet connection. Be realistic in your thinking, you can't go after someone for wanting to steal a photo. and then think that its OK to steal a service. Stealing is stealing. Sorry, but that's my opinion. It's seems that today people pick and choose what laws they want to obey and what ones they choose to overlook.

Ol Timer,

I agree with you 100%. Had a "discussion" with a young man just the other day that could not see the harm in down loading music off the internet. He kept saying "the internet should be free". Couldn't understand that someone produced that music he was stealing and should be paid for it's use.

Though I personally can scarcely play a radio, I have many musician friends. I feel there is a BIG difference in pirating music, and borrowing a bit of bandwidth from a neighbor. Copyrighted material usually involves a persons livelyhood, if you manage a decent wireless connection off someone elses account it is costing them nothing. As others have said, just my thoughts.
