I used knowlege gained from this forum at work today, didn't get any credit for it.
We build our own trailers and mount a pressure washer on them. The woman that wires the trailers called someone to come check it and I just happened to be walking by. She said that she thought that this trailer sat higher than the previous trailers. I asked the purchasing agent if it is possible that this axle had a different starting angle, his reply was no its the same axle we always use. Later I find out that it was indeed a different starting angle. Never got a "you were right" or anything. Guess from now on I should just stick to my own job, and never voice an opinion.
If I could shut my brain off, I could save myself alot of time, money and effort.

Aaron, you have to toot your own horn and squeak your wheels once in a while. I'd say this is one of those times when you should have 'beeped' so people would know. Congratulations anyway. Pat yourself on the back. :applause:

Guess I should be used to it. I run a sheet metal laser and they quite often have the programs set up for the wrong metal so I point it out to the programmer and change it myself. In the 4 years I have been doing this I have yet to get a pat on the back and hear "Good job." Guess I'm just the Rodney Dangerfield of the company.

Next time ask the programmer if he's sure that's the tape he wants to use and if he says yes, run it and explain to the boss that you questioned it and he said to run it. That'll get the bosses attention. ;)

Problem is the programmer is the owners son, I mentioned a list of things that he could do in programming that would make things more efficient and was told by the owner that he is shy and doesn't like to talk on the phone(would have to call the laser tech line to find out how to do these things)and the owner just didn't know what he could do to. The programmer is also the production supervisor for my area.

Speaking of using stuff learned here....

A crew of us got together to put siding on a friends house, and we needed to put flashing on a "sill" type feature on the front of the house. After working with aluminum on the TD this looked easy so I said I would do it. I wrapped it around really nice and nailed it down, it looked nice and straight and weatherproof, somebody asked where I learned that and I told them that I built a tear drop!!

"A what?!?!?!"
