The book is fantastic. Sometime, I'll have to watch the movie.

Among the recent biographies of our Founding Fathers, the John Adams one is, IMHO, clearly the worst, the least interesting, and the least insightful.

Hope the movie is better. I'll check it out on Netflix.

For contrast, I recommend the most recent bios of Franklin, Hamilton, and Washington. Each is closer to what might be called "definitive" and considerably more worth the expenditure of quality time.

I got the DVD's at the library. More then what I did know. I have a set hobby. I had this movie for a week and two days B4 having to return it I watched it. Wouldn't say it was refreshing to break from my regular hobby research but was worth it. I thought it was good but some people like broccoli and some don't.

Yes, the movie has an excellent mix of drama and history - just enough story about people to keep one's interest but a fairly detailed presentation of the historical facts.

The one fault that would probably not be apparent to an American was how 'revisionist' some of the attitudes were, to suit current American attitudes and the telling of its history. There is the very interesting issue about when those guys stopped thinking they were of British nationality and started thinking they were of American nationality and what inspired or drove them to change - there were a few words in the movie that reflected this, but by and large it was a very simplistic portrayal that suited later American thinking.

HA!
Still graced with two eyes and ten fingers (due in no small part to luck!).

Just when you think a problem is solved, an uglier result replaces it.
