Updating the master closet (house)

Postby planovet » Mon Jan 17, 2011 5:21 pm

Our house is 11 years old now and we are starting to think about renovations to do as the house ages. Redo the master bath, wood floors in the living area, solid surface counter tops in the kitchen, etc. I wanted to start small so I decided on the master closet first. It was crowded and messy and just needed some re-organization. Besides, the Boss would like me to do some work around the house before starting build #2.

Here are some "before" pictures:

Here it is during demo:

After thinning out the clothes and donating a lot to the local thrift store, all the remaining clothes had to go somewhere. Cindi's clothes ended up on rack in other rooms in the house, mine ended up in the garage:

All the old shelves and rods stripped out and carpet removed. Walls were patched:

New paint on the walls:

New carpet (hired someone for that):

Ordered the closet materials from Easy Closets. They arrived in 45 boxes :?

Starting to hang the vertical pieces:

Finished product, back wall (10' high ceilings allowed for 3 rows of hanging):

Center island with storage and hampers on both sides:

All in all it was a fun project. Now it's on to another...

I was wondering why the water balloon was getting bigger... and then it hit me.

 Wow! That closet looks almost as big as my smaller spare bedroom!! My house is a 50's ranch style home. All my closets are small. I'd kill for a closet like that in my room! I think you have more room in that closet than I have in all 3 bedrooms combined! Very nice! the remodel looks great. :applause:

There are heels in those boxes in the garage. Do you wear a dress with those or your Po-Po uniform? (TeeHeeHee!) Better check and see if Cindi ended up with your shoes in her closet!

Thanks Becca. I'll take some pictures once everything is back in place. I made slots for about 90 pair of Cindi's shoes only to find out she has about 150 pairs. I don't know what I'm going to do. :?

Well, I have a few more things to do around the house but I am looking forward to #2 sometime soon.

I get a small space on one side :(

Uh...no! Those are just some of her 150 pairs of shoes. They had to go somewhere...

Thanks Rod. The plan for my #2 build is the Little Red Caboose. I had a thread about it a few months ago.
