Are you ready for the big one? WELL ARE YOU

I have been watching this sight for years. And there seems to be a large increase in activity, and in more locations. Do you live in a bad area?http://earthquake.usgs.gov/ Are you ready for the big one (food storage and such)?

Interesting data, thanks for posting it. There's a noted fault line a couple of miles from my house... :o

step back and look at the bigger picture. food is shipped in to most towns and cities. if the roads or ports are taken out will you have problems? how about electric power? no power in most cases means no water. I would love to have an old style hand pump well on my place just incase. But its something to think about. We should all be prepared for events that could effect our well being. Its good to have supplies. Don't get me wrong, The sky is not falling. I would just like everyone to be prepared and safe.

I'm prepared for zombies. A little earth shaking really won't be a big hassle.

I would like to have a supply of water that will not need electricity to access. I keep a good store of food and such but I could do alot more! I live in the middle of WA state not close to any faults but Im sure if seattle got hit hard and the ports were damaged it would effect the whole state.
toilet paper, I need more toilet paper.

I would be more worried about tsunamies. one big one could hit the whole west coast. possibly damaging the ports and alot of towns. I was in the path of MT saint helens. and know if Rainier, sait helens or Mt baker blows it would'nt be good. I have been watching yellowstone and it has ramped up in the last few weeks. If you look at the site it looks like the whole pasific rim is going crazy. alot more than normal.

I live in the middle of the volcanoes. Right smack between St Helens and Rainier, with Adams to the SE. Yes, I guess I have enough stuff for a while. Got a hot tub for flushing water, if the septic holds up, and then there's a nearby creek, which could be boiled and or filtered. Or take off a downspout and catch rainwater, if the house stays up. There's lots of firewood in the woodshed, but I need more saw gas in case zombies attack.

I hope the house would stay up. I did not feel the 4.5 one we had a couple weeks ago. I was up around some noisy equipment so who knows?

We can always, well maybe sometimes, find an elk to eat...

Have you ever heard of "peak oil". If world wide oil ever peaked, that would be worse than any earth quake.

I have just returned home after spending a few days in Christchurch with my teardrop. I arrived there the day the shake occurred last week and despite being relatively self contained, found the whole earthquake aftermath scene somewhat disturbing. The rush on the supermarkets, fuel stations and other resource centres for one.
I must say the the teardrop handled the aftershocks well and I have the members of this forum to jointly thank for their input (from my pre-build research) in it's construction.
Please keep the residents of Christchurch in your prayers, particularly those who have loved ones missing & unaccounted for and in addition, for those rescue volunteers, from all over the globe who are assisting in the rescue efforts through the rubble.
Thanks guys.

What is not known is that Brazilian oil fields are about a year and a half away from real production which will stabalize prices which will likely continue to rise till then.
We as tardropers are in better shape than the big RV folks but it will be painful.
