Best way to search the forum?

Postby Kharn » Tue Sep 13, 2011 6:37 pm

I'm having a problem finding threads discussing areas of interest, seems the search engine on this site only allows you to search topics+body or just body, no option for just the topics so I end up with a ton of results unrelated to the search string. Am I doing it wrong, or does anyone have a suggestion on a different way to search the site (google?)?

Thanks!

Yeppers--

The engineering/techno types will tell you how easy and effective the search is for them. It isn't for me.

I usually go through Google with Teardrops & Tiny Travel Trailers on the search line. It gets enough results that you can go through them and see what you want. If you want to know about trim, I usually type in

Teardrops & Tiny Travel Trailers door trim.

Try it with and without quotes around it to narrow down what you get back.

If all else fails, put up a post here and ask the question again. You wouldn't be the first to re-ask a question. You will get 1) honest answers, 2) threads with your answer provided by the above-mentioned engineering/techno types who know how to make the search sing and dance or 3) responses from people who asked the question before and remember where their answer was.

Welcome to the forum, by the way!

yes, the search engine is clunky, too be polite... You can use AND to define words which must be in the results, OR to define words which may be in the result and NOT to define words which should not be in the result. Use * as a wildcard for partial matches I need to get with Mike and see if we can add a Google search box to the site...might come with adds though...........
