The station owner was just trying to poke fun at rasing gas prices, BUT IS HE THAT FAR OFF?

Hey Dan,

I have a few long distance kayaking trips scheduled this fall,but I may cancel them. :cry:

I can't see spending nearly a third of my weakly pay{on purpose sp} going for gas. Even though towing my teardrop does not effect my milage that much,it just will take the fun out of the trip.

Are you going to join us at Pinchot on 9/30-10/2 ? If it's the cost of gas, I surely understand.

I don't understand why but saterday morning Sulphur Spring Tx gas price were 2.99 that nite the price drop[ped to 2.79 go figure

Hey you guys should think yourselves lucky, current prices in the UK:

Standard gas - £1.22 per litre = £5.46 per UK gallon = $8.64 per US gallon

Diesel - £1.29 per litre = £5.86 per UK gallon = $9.28 per US gallon

If we were to take all the taxes off the price of one gallon or gas, the US would still be more expensive. We are paying to high for the gas, not the taxes. UK has high gas taxes that go back into their economy. US money goes to someone elses economy.
I would still be mad if gas was $4.50 a gallon, but I would be alot less mad if the reason why it was so high was because I was paying taxes.
It is stupid anyways!! We know now, today, of more gas that we knew existed in the 80's.
And this environmental push is wrong too. No matter what, humans will always leave a foot print. It could be through using gas for fuel, cutting down corn for fuel, or what ever else the future has in store for us. If people are so worried about making a footprint, then stay at home and don't drive. You will be "making a statement."

Problem is that there was no real reason for gas to go that high and stay there. Now we have the market driving it up without cause. :thinking:

Go for a ride and pull the tear drop. The price of gas is cheap and if you wait for it to come down before you go camping or enjoy a trip, then excuse me , you are a fool. If you enjoy something do it. If you want to make excuses for not doing it then maybe it is not something you wanted to do in the first place.
Ok rant over but the people who complain about the price of fuel probably pay a buck for a mouthful of water and think nothing of it.
Life is short and there is absolutely no reason to have any money left when you are dead! Tomorrow might be the day.

Gas has always been kind of expensive here, but probably not as much in other places such as the UK as mentioned before. So, as Jim mentioned, it is cheap compared to some areas.

I lived just south of London for two years, where it is expensive just in general. I have gotten used to it and live pretty simple for the most part, but not go without either.

I guess I just don't worry or think about it, just as I can't worry about whether I will have a job tomorrow or not.
