I have a honda 2000 it seems to not be getting any fire it ran out of fuel and set for a while. Then I went to start it and nothing. I did a oil change and even changed spark plug and still nothing.

The small, Honda engined generator (2k watts) I'm going to use in my TTT had sat for a coupla years also. Had to take the carb apart, remove the float, and clean the varnish out of the needle and seat. My big generators (3500 & 5500w Briggs & Stratton-Coleman) never had that problem...I always had used Sta-Bil to prevent that from happening.

Thanks that is what I been doing sense I posted this. Took it apart cleaned it with starting fluid then put it back together. Pulled it and started right up the 2nd pull. Had a surge in it so put it on high run and ran it about 5 min and slowed it back down now runs like new. Starts up with 1 pull now. Called a repair place and they said they would have to put it on machine to see whats wrong and just for that it would be 100 dollars After I got back up I thought i'll fix it myself and now its fixed and i'm a happy camper THANKS WORKING ON IT

I'm a religious user of Sea Foam now in our 1K yamaha. I had issues with varnish build up in the carb (loping idle) and its the only thing short of a carb rebuild that helped. Here's a link to a Honda carb rebuild:

I had had similar problems with lawn mower, pressure washer, etc engines. If you don't want to take the carb apart or pay to have it done. Get some STA-BIL Fuel Stabilizer and pour it directly into the carb and crank the engine, it make take a few times, but once you start getting it to fire a bit, then keep doing it until the engine runs and stays running. Also, before doing this, empty the gas tank and put fresh fuel in and put the Sta-bil in also.

+1 on the Sea Foam. My local small engine repairman calls it 'the miracle fluid' & I believe he's right. Keeps my Honda eU2000i in top running shape. Another thing, any small engine using Ethanol gas that sits for an extended period in an area (storage) that is subject to significant temperature fluctuations WILL experience moisture condensation in the fuel system. That can cause major problems with fuel delivery valves, needles, gaskets, etc. The new 'green' Marine StaBil may be of some value in preventing condensation problems.

Exactly what "working on it" said... ... I just did this last week. The carb is very easy to pull and clean.

Thanks for posting the rebuild page Bruce. I usually go out and crank mine at least 1 time a month but was gone out of state for 6 months and it set ask kids to do it for me but they never did guess next time ill just take it with me

I found this stuff called tune-up in a can..sprayed it right into the carb and it worked like a champ..might be the same as sea foam..don't know
