when you first started camping how many had a wife that supported you in camping, and had to warm up to teardrop camping. over RV trailers

I get to go bush fairly often and it's only recently that Anne has been prepared to give it a try.
We've had caravans on and off for over 30yrs and they work well, but I've had the tent out over the last coula years and have only been able to convince Anne to come with me on a few ocassions.
She seemed to have fun, but she wouldn't be the one to suggest a weekend in the tent.

I thought a TD may get her out of the house a bit more, and so far, going by her comments and input that just may be the case.

We tent camped for 30+ years and the tear was a BIG step up in comfort. One of the things I was mind full of was her need, and making it as easy to prepare meals and clean them up as it is at home was one of the goals. A three burner cook top and sink with running hot water was the answer.

I also am the wife, and the builder. Getting my husband on board with the idea was not a problem, although I think at first he thought he might like something bigger. But he's really gotten into it now and he has such an adventurous spirit that I know we're going to have a blast in it. Today we were discussing the fact that in addition to the bike racks, he also wants a roof rack for kayaks.

My husband of 23 years asked me to go tent camping when we first started dating. I now know this was a test, if I liked to camp our budding relationship would flourish if not ... I'm glad to report we've been a camping couple ever since. Tents, every size pop up imaginable, class C RV, we' re now on our 2nd Teardrop.

Thank you, I camp alot before I married #2 wife, and love it, good friend and a clear head come monday. My trouble is her x-husband came home with a tank and never help clean it, pack it, or unpack it,.. So when i say anything about camping all she can say drop me at a hotel, we stop a little guys last year and she found a unit with air, said maybe...she want a 5th, I don't have anything that would pull it, plus I don't want to go down the road pulling a house

i am the better half also (the wife). if my hubby had his way he would just sit around doing odds and ends around the yard. he is a homebody. he goes with me 1 or 2 times a year and thats about it. so i got a puppy this year as my camping buddy (hope that works out). but hubby does have an old rv out back, says he is going to retire in 5 yrs and travel in his rv. so we'll see about that.

Well 1st wife would not camp with me but hear she loves camping now Now my 2nd wife loved camping from the start tents, popups, travel trailers (of ever size) now we are on or 2nd cargo. Would have done a tear but she tried one out couldn't stay in it she don't like tight spaces. Thursday will be 27 years of marriage to her and we still love camping together.

We tent camped with the kids for years. After the kids grew up and moved out of the house, we started looking for something that ended up being a teardrop trailer.

We both love camping.

We met while camping in 1964, still have the popup we bought in 1978, wife wanted to buy the vintage teardrop we found on craigslist 5 years ago, she paid for it, and helped restore it, and last year she found the Uhaul camper that we use for snowbirding in the south. She's happy in camping in any of the three!!! Bob

All of these comments in this thread seem to prove the old adage, "the couple that plays together...stays together."

The other half used to go tent camping once a year when the kid was younger. Did not like the bugs here in Florida. Just finished my tear this year and had only one outing with a friend
and looking for the opportunity for the family trips...time and money at the same time...LOL
