treadmill

Postby droid_ca » Thu Sep 20, 2012 1:34 pm

I was wondering if anybody has ever built a treadmill and if so how hard of a build was it ...I had an idea of building one that my dogs could use for times when I don't want to let them outside of my tinyhouse (raining winter ect, ect) 0so I was thinking that if I but a small bicycle generator on it they could get their exercise and I can get some power for my tinyhouse....Think it would work

I think it would be more "cost effective" to get rid of the dogs and spend the money you save on dog food on electricity. You just can't get around the laws of thermodynamics. Then again, the laws of thermodynamics just aren't the same as having a dog for a pet.

Cheers,

Gus

It isn't a new idea . These treadmills were made for sheep but dogs were used regularly for power .

Thanks Gus for the tip but if I spent what I saved then I could spend a couple of nights in the Holiday Inn but I love my mutts they are good for the most part but next summer will be their big payday for me so I should get some back and then if I don't have a trailer by then I'll get someone to just build one for me...but thanks again...so now back to this dog power

What kind of treadmill are you looking at ? If it is one made for humans your dog won't be able to turn it at all unless it is modified or the dog weighs more than 150 pounds . .... D.J.
