flame + water = STEAM...

So I know there are a few steam officianodos on here and I thought I'd start a thread where we could discuss all things Steam

Either things you have built, things you want to build, or just a good place to : Blow Off some Steam with others that have similar interests

ya know, I've been following the solar furnace discussion. Would it be possible/practical to incorporate a steam radiator for heat into the mix? Odd thought for an early Tuesday morning post.

I like that idea it was one of the things I had been considering for another way to have heat circulation in my trailer I had been watching these small self contained solar vents that are made for boats in the off season so they have a battery and a small panel that can recharge in the limited amount of winters light and they just keep blowing I was thinking that if I used something like that behind the radiator that it would help with the airflow... and to be able to have a steam generator might be nice as well...So many ideas we could do

on the Fomie thread GPW had done up to drawings of a dog sled trailer for me
Image&Image&Image
And I had mentioned that my friends children had come up with an idea of having booster rockets and a hot-air balloon so too indulge them I looked at possibly helium weather balloons and for 250 bucks each :? they can lift 40 pounds so if I had a few of them then that would take the resistance off of the sled (yes there could be an increase in the drag though)so I have been trying to figure out a way that they can have a model anyways of what they wanted me to build (kids have some pretty crazy ideas) So would idt be possible to use a turbine and have the steam spin a bigger prop some what like a Turbo prop on an airplane in order to achieve thrusters my idea was to go with a big kite and have pull you but they said gets get stuck in trees....wow it is way to early for this

This is a quote that I remember from my youth . "It's easier to build a steam powered lobster trap than a lobster powered steam trap" .

Those darned farmers always had it so easy .

I am a steam fan from Waaaaay back and have ridden more steam trains than many folks in the age of steam. Dad really loved them.
This has to some extent extended into my science fiction reading and Steampunk fiction, most of which is laughable because of the obvious lack of any familiarity with steam trains etc.
In searching for something on Youtube I encountered this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Y4u8sWO1Kk with among other things a nice boiler explosion toward the end, it is adult in nature!

I wonder what we could use STEAM for in out little trailers I had thought about using it to get rid of waste water but then was told that it might get all contaminated but I'm sure there are multiple ideas that we vould use steam for

thought I'd give this topic a Bump, as there has been some talk of steam to get rid of Grey Water so I had an idea not sure how well or if at all it would work but here it is

You can get 12 volt submersible water heaters if you also used in conjunction with a Thermo Electric Generator (TEG device)
so if you have a solar panel bring the core water temperature up and the TEG brings it up to a boiling point to help gas of your grey water

here are the links to what I'm talking about
Teg : http://tegpower.com/
Heater element: http://www.ebay.com/itm/120316627188
Small solar panel: http://www.ebay.com/itm/100-W-Watt-100W ... 3a7995473c

Would it work??
