Walking the plank at Dillon Beach

Postby Lazybones » Sun Oct 09, 2005 9:19 pm

I just got back from a cold and windy yet fun trip to Dillon beach. Wiht a total of 20 trailers and there owners there was no shortage of good conversation.

It's always a good time with teardropers!

On Saturday night we had the ritual bonfire by none other than Dean Bessom; the man who burnt a teardrop a few years back. If you haven't seen the pictures of it go to mybenroy.com .

This years fire included a walking of the plank. Many of us took part in the crazieness. Sue,Doug and I among them. Here is a picture of Doug and I walking the the plank.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again next year!
Lee

This what I have for an over all shot of all the tears at Dillon Beach....it was a good gathering...we ended up with over 20 total....lots of tarps etc...as it was windy...we all gave lots of "tours" as there were a number of people interested in building and taking notes...and the interest grows.....doug

Chris....out "west" we have something called an ocean, a large body of salty water....typically the shoreline can be windblown and there are "sand dunes"...oft times when camping near the "ocean"...trees aren't an option...but if you want to come up for the Redwoods gathering....you'll see them...good conversation, food and drink CAN mask the lack of environment.....a good time can be had with or without our arboreal friends....just giving you a bad time....hope you can make it out sometime....Doug

Ocean, Ocean,OCEAN??? What's that? All our oceans here in Oklahoma have trees around them and the water is the same color as our dirt.............RED!!!!!(Just kidding, some of them are green! But they DO have trees around them.)

Don't know if I'll ever get out your way. That's a long way to peddle a bicycle, you know. With gas prices the way they are and are going to become, I don't know if I'll ever get to do too much traveling. Oh well, enjoy the Redwoods.

Dillon Beach

Postby The Teardrop Nanny » Mon Oct 10, 2005 10:36 am

To the Dillon Beach crowd-

Just know that I was thinking about all of you as Kathleen and I shared the entire campground at Swimmer's Delight with 3 deer and an assortment of tree creatures. When I look at the campsites you had on the ocean, it made me wistful for your companionship, but only for a second or two! Having the place all to ourselves was a real boon, especially with the mild nights and sunny days. I recognized a few of the campers by their set up. Glad you had a good time and survived walking the plank. I look forward to seeing you at another gathering.

Be well,

Nanny ;)
