I grew up in the Napa Vally and have an appreciation for good wine but I really lost interest in drinking when I turned 21. Having been to a number of cocktail parties and seeing folks drink themselves to stupidity really turned me off to the whole idea.
I ended up taking substance abuse prevention and treatment classes in social work. One of the assignments was to attend an AA meeting and one of my classmates came to the conclusion he was an alcoholic from that meeting.

Nothing beats a good glass of beer. There are so many styles of beer that you can find one that suits any occasion or taste.

My alltime favorite drink is a tall wide glass of ice cold coffee all made with full cream milk. Mix it with about 80 cc of Claytons and lots of super cold ice. YUM-YUM!

This is true! There's so many different beers out there and with all the micro breweries it's hard to keep up with them all

I'm definitely a beer guy. Since I discovered you can put citrus in beer (Corona and lime!!), I really don't drink anything else.

I do make a point of having a glass of good scotch during the holidays, though. Glenmoranjie, when I can find it. Something about that smoky, peaty malt just says Christmas to me.
The more stuff I take along, the more time I spend taking care of my stuff!

Lonnie, I've been a home brewer for over 25 years and was a beer judge for 10 or 15 of those. Lately I can't detect odors like I used to and have been forced to abandon judging but am still an avid brewer.

Drop me a PM if you'd like to talk HB.

Making beer is like making brownies; there are quick kits that make something sorta like brownies, there are mixes that make very acceptable brownies, and there are those of us who make our brownies from scratch.

Beer is like that, you can buy a kit that will make drinkable beer, but in the long run will be problematic because of the lack of control and the fact that you must use their refill kits with their equipment.

Or you can buy something like this http://www.williamsbrewing.com/COMPLETE-BREWERY-WITH-INDIA-PALE-ALE-P2349C257.aspx that will allow you to make beer from any malt extract, hops, and yeast. You have much more control, but its more work.

Or you can buy stainless steel pots, huge picnic coolers, propane burners, and similar equipment and make beer directly from malted barley. More work, more control, more flexibility.

There are lots of sites about home brewing that will give you more info than I can here. Just google "how to make beer at home" for lots of results. I like this one https://www.homebrewersassociation.org/pages/lets-brew/get-schooled/get-started

Getting pretty hard at detecting off flavors and odors myself as well. Don't judge that much anymore as I don't trust my nose like I used too!

Guess you could say I am one of those SS pots guys! :)

Crown on Ice! Easy to make too. Just take a nice clean glass, fill up with ice, then fill void space around ice with crown royal. But you need to watch it closely, too ryie, you add ice, to icy you add more rye.
