I am not going anywhere. Someone has to stay and fight the Zombies. :twisted:

Not only that nothing is going to happen to us untill AFTER the Dam Gathering and the pinewood derby. And I have to have some of Dean and Joanies cooking one more time. Heck I dont even have a waffle dog iron yet. No folks the end is not yet.

Well so much for that idea, I don't know about you but I am still here and we are now in the 14th Baktun of the Mayan calendar with no great mishaps. I get a hoot out of those in search of ancient astronauts etc. sorts of things and if any one wants to I can discuss some of the legitimate explanations. We too often do not give credit to our ancestors for creativity and craftsmanship. Did you know the first electric battery was Babylonian, used to electroplate gold on to common metal, thus proving greed trumps...

Haven't had a chance to watch the news yet but all is well the places I've been.
I was actually looking forward to a slight crust displacement. I think Mn would be beautiful this time of year if it was closer to the equator.
It's flipping cold out this morning!!!

I wonder what other doomsday theory we're going to have next! I'm so tired of hearing about it... It's been one thing after another since "Y2K" back in '99. I saw one very young couple that had $23,000 in savings, and because some (to me) random preacher told the whole world he KNEW the Rapture was going to be on whatever date, they believed him, and blew their savings. Now, that money might have been burning a hole in their pockets, or they in their youthfulness truly believed this man and felt that he was correct, and spent the money thinking it was ok. Either way, that's (in my case) three years of emergency funds in case my wife and I lost our jobs. That, to them, was a downpayment on a home. A future. Now, foolish as they have been, they have nothing. I have no use for doomsdayists and their followers. We don't get an out! We get death, and even then, sometimes God says no.

I love this hobbyist forum. I also, for one, love the life that you have in you all, and your excitement of planning and attending gatherings that I get to read about. It's a breath of fresh air, to pun on the term! Here's to life, and may you all enjoy 2013 without more doomsday crap!

I tried but the post office wouldn't accept a empty envelope

So did the Mayans remember leap years
There is a world, just beyond now,
where reality runs a razor thin seam between fact and possibility;

Anywhere I roam where I lay my head is home....

Goes back quite a bit farther than that. Read some of the historical accounts of the hysteria in the year 999 AD. I personally remember all the fools yelling about the end of the world when Skylab fell back to earth in 1979. Then there were all the televangelist predictions of the end of days in the 80s and 90s. Then Y2K. Now we are predicting the end of the world by the calendar of a people who were so lousy at prediction that they died off from a lack of basic sanitation and an overabundance of slash and burn farming!

What next? Rabid gophers predict the apocalypse?

I'm pretty sure that Phil would like more work. I don't see how he can make it on working one day in February.
