HEY!!! I'M IN!!!

But here's the deal:

Where I live, if you carve a pumpkin more than like 2 days before Halloween, you end up with mush and a fruit-fly breeding ground. So I'll do mine on the 30th, and post at the last minute.

I've tried everything, but if anyone knows how to do it earler so it doesn't rot, I'm all ears. And keeping it in the house doesn't help at all.

Not sure if there's any merit to it, but I hear you can pickle them with "BEER" 8) ;)

Okay, you guys have convinced me... We'll have a pumpkin carving contest...

On November 1st we'll judge the postings in this thread and pick the winning pumpkin. Madjack, Dean and I will do the judging.

The carvings have to be done this Oct. Last years carvings don't count.

Oh, and the winner will get a fleece throw of some kind, similar to this one here...

That'll help keep you warm so you don't have to fire up one of those unvented heaters...

So you think you got a good pumpkin carving? Post a photo of it in this thread by Oct 31st.

Carving Contest

Postby The Teardrop Nanny » Mon Oct 17, 2005 3:26 pm

Do you have to be a teardrop forum member to submit a pumpkin? My whole class carves pumpkins every year and we'd be willing to submit a class photo for you to post and see. You don't have to judge them ( I don't), but it might be fun to see what 20 third and fourth graders can do. I'll excuse MYSELF from the competition cuz I wouldn't want a conflict of interest to be created by the fact I know one of the judges well and I also know he can be influenced by cookies.

Hey TDN,

I'll have to talk to MadJack about that since you are obviously baking cookies as we speak... Lucky Dean!!! Hopefully he's not on a diet or anything...

BTW, here's the fleece throw for this contest...

...see I told you we would haveta disqualify TDN for....cookie fixin' :drofl: ...however, if anyone wishes to bake up some ol'fashioned brownies with pecans(not walnuts) and send them to me. I would be willing to give their entry due consideration...in fact they wouldn't even haveta carve a pumpkin if the brownies were good enough ;)
