User Control Panel -Friends or Foes

This is the first time that I have found the need to use the Friends or Foes portion of the User Control Panel but someone was repeatedly getting my ire up so badly that it became necessary. I LOVE THIS FEATURE! It immediately gave relief. I whole-heartily recommend it to others.

Now, if only there were a live feature like that for the campground gatherings.

Hi Sharon. I know exactly what you mean. I have been seriously thinking about just leaving this board because of a few snotty comments. I try to ignore them, but like a train wreck I just have to look. How does this feature work?

On the upper left side of your screen, you will see:

User Control Panel

Click on it. and it will take you to your panel. Now, click on the tab that reads:

Friends & Foes

Next, on the left side of your screen, click on:

Manage foes

In the box to the right, list the forum name that you wish to ignore/block reading postings and messages from and press enter.

Me too. It's awful. If that person keeps it up, they will eventually get banned from the forum (I hope). It's like that person's attitude came from a bar room floor.

The blocking feature only works when you're logged on. It doesn't work when you're lurking/not signed on.

Thanks Hon! I'm going to try it now. (edit) I just found another way to do it. Just click on their name and under the profile add them as foe. Dang that was easy.

The sexist comments are getting to me, but I am afraid that if the kindest and gentlest among us screen out these posts, the norms on the board might suffer. I think our full presence is neede more now than ever.

Very wise thinking, Pat. I need a break from the comments before I lose my cool. Let me have a couple of days and I'll put the options back in place. It's either this or I stay away, which also would mean the "evil" would win. Thanks for right way to think about this.

I suspect that the people we are tempted to classify as foes would be very surprised to know it. I think there is a degree of blindness on their part as to what might offend. Those who prize speaking their piece or telling it like it is probably think that lack of self- censorship is valued here. Perhaps I am wrong (wouldn't be the first time!) but I feel that it is of great importance to measure ones words here.

Likewise, my name may be Monkeyshines, but my aim is for harmless fun......not to offend or cause strife. This prompts me to ask, do the people you've tagged as foes get a notice telling them they've been foed? Anonymously tagged of course.

This the reason I quit posting on the board and now just scan posts of people I enjoy chatting with. The rest I just ignore, but like Eric said If I ever offendlet me know please!
