Got my Shingles vaccine

Postby Mukilteo » Sun Feb 03, 2013 8:09 pm

Now that I'm 60 I got my shingles vaccine today. Insurance covered 100%. :D
Back in 2005 I was lifting a wood planer onto a work bench and tore something in my arm. Dr. said sense I had full movement but was weaker there was nothing he could do.
A few days later i broke out in shingles on the same side. :?

When I do a lot of work I get pain in that general area but nothing like the original injury. That was a stop everything and lay down event.

That was back in 2005.
How is the stove coming along? Get the paint stripped?

Yep got the 426 stripped but thats as far as I got as last weekend I had a sinus infection and then dat after I started feeling better I started running a fever and went back todoc and now I have severe bronchitis and 3rd day of 101 temp. So needless to say the colemans are on hold for a few weeks.

I hope you get well soon.
I ran out of primer painting the top today and the auto parts store won't have it in till Thursday.
I'm using VHT Engine Enamel for the primer. I couldn't find the right green high heat paint so I'll use Rust-Oleum's Hunter Green. Then put on a layer of hi-heat clear and bake it in the oven at 200 degrees for one hour And hope it works out.

I found Hi heat grey primer at HD and a gloss black and red also in Hi Heat. I don't know if baking it will make much difference using th hi heat paint.

That is what the instructions on the can said to do.
I used silver "Header" paint on the burner parts. It had even more involved curing instructions. Starting at 250 degrees and ending at 600 degrees. My oven only goes to 550 degrees.

Then that makes me curious as this paint is supposed to be used on stuff like a bbq grill then how are you going to fit that into a oven?

Eric, all I have to say is.....WOW!!!!! YOU BRUISE WORSE THAN ME

I had a mild case of the shingles a bit over a year ago, and I sure don't want a full blown case. I haven't gotten my shingles shot....I need to talk to my Dr about that one. Thanks for the reminder.

You just build a fire in the grill without putting any food in it.

I guess could do the same to the box of the 426 and crank it up if needed.

Yes, they do here, too. But my insurance wants me to do my "business" at CVS, so I need to talk to the Dr to see if I need a prescription for it so insurance pays for it.

My 413E fits right in the oven. Just be sure to run the self cleaning cycle when your done curing parts to get the paint smell out of the oven.
Also I'm single and can get away with it.
When I was married I got in trouble when the wife came home and found my Craftsman wrenches in the dish washer. But that's another story.

Where I am, Walgreens carries it and CVS doesn't. My insurance wants me to get it through a (my?) doctor but my doctor doesn't carry the vaccine or give it. The shot, without insurance, costs around $260.

I understand that the pharmacies now carry a medicine that can be used when you have an outbreak of shingles. Maybe that's why it's so hard to get the vaccine. After all, if we get the vaccination, we won't be having reoccurring outbreaks and, therefore, won't be buying the shingles medicine. Maybe it's all about "da money"?
