Insert coin, pull lever/push button, loose money.

Slots takes no skill, it's pure luck. They pay out at a specific rate. Video poker is about the best bet in any casino if you learn how the rules work.

Casinos are fun, not for profit sake...unless you own the joint.

Don't waste your time or money. You work way too hard for it to throw it away. You would get more satisfaction giving it to someone less fortunate than yourself. I have never felt that I could afford to give away more than $20, so have never used any more than that in a casino. On penny slots, that will get you about an hour of play before you go home with an empty pocket. The key to coming out ahead is to leave as soon as you win any amount. Otherwise you play your winnings down to your starting money and leave with what you came with. For everyone who leaves money ahead, there are thousands that will leave the same casino loosers.

My father, who built roulette wheels for 30 years, had two sayings.
1). Casinos don't get built on winners
2). He's the only one to consistently make money on roulette wheels.

I made money on roulette when i was in high school because my father paid me to put number decals on to the wheels.

I played roulette exactly one time in my life. When i turned 21 and my dad gave me $20 to play on one of his wheels.

No matter what game, gambling can never be considered anything but entertainment. The only way to make big bucks on a slot machine is to spend big bucks, and in the long run you will always spend more than you win. Payouts on penny slots are minuscule anyway. See saying #1.

Better off taking the pennies, burying them into the ground and waiting for them to grow into a dollar tree.

In the short run, you might come out ahead. In the long run, the house will always come out ahead.

Read the section on payout percentage: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slot_machine

If a payout percentage is 90% and you play 1000 times (1000 cents = $10), you will probably win $9, thus losing a dollar.

Hey Slow take it from me I use to work in a Casino many years ago and they are rigged to win the slots as honest as you can get though if your going to go in and drop 5 bucks you would have better luck playing the pop machine at least your guaranteed to take home something

Just look at gambling as entertainment. If you win, that's just a bonus.

We went to a casino once. I don't remember how much money I said we could spend. It might have been $20 or $50....

You can't imagine how fast that money disappeared...

We left, disappointed that we didn't even have beginners luck. We've never been back since.

There's a saying that goes, " Don't gamble that which you can't afford to lose".

We went to a Bicycle Industry trade show [for work] In Atlantic City once. We had to walk through the Casinos to get to it. I had NO interest at all. Personally I don't get it..

Just look around the casino and ask who is paying the light bill.

You are.

Used to play pontoon at the cricket club and would put down £20. When it was gone Id walk away. As has been said before dont gamble what you cant afford to lose. Something else I would add would be as soon as th emoney is on the table consider it lost. The rest is just for fun.

Been to 1 casino did the same thing put £20 down that was all I was prepared to risk. Ended up losing half of it beofre other half was too tired and dragged me away. But had fun doing it. That was at small stakes poker, you dont play the house you play other people but the house takes a cut of the winnings.

Slow,,,,take it from me, you may win but you will eventually lose all and more. My ex wife had/has a gambling addiction that drove us into a chapter 13 bankruptcy for almost $250,000. I should have seen the signs but I was too stupid to realize till I had a credit report ran. Six months after filing, she filed for divorce. I then became "Suckerpunched". We had to split the payments but my half was $600 a month for four years. Pennies become dimes, then dollars, then $25 to $50,,,and on a slot machine which are the worst odds in the house. I haven't gambled in six years,,,I work too hard to give it away. On the good side, I am now out of debt except for a small truck payment, and have a good credit rating if I ever need it. But It took a few years.
And that folks,,,,is how I got my name......
If you see my harley on a trailer,,,,call the police cause it's being stolen...

People tend to only talk about gambling when they win. So, many folks (doesn't seem to be the way on this forum though) will tell you how they've won, but you won't hear about the times they've lost money.

I always feel like I should sit outside the door with a bucket, with a sign saying, throw your money here instead. :)

We went to eat at a casino. I find them depressing--no windows, a lot of old people (I'm starting to be old so no offense meant) who probably shouldn't be there, and many are in poor physical shape. I couldn't wait to get out. They did have a toilet seat cover system that I'd never seen before...push a button and a strip of plastic whirls around and you supposedly get to sit on new plastic. That was the most amusing part of the casino experience

I avoid them. You can camp for free at some of the casinos though.
