scrap booking / story book

Postby rowerwet » Sat Mar 23, 2013 7:40 pm

anybody on here scrapbook? I want to make a book for my kids about their boats (check my WWW if you want to see them) laid out like a kids story book. The idea being one side of each page would be text and the facing page would be a picture.
I know there are scrap book printing websites that will send you a photo memory book, but how much text can you have on a page? I need more than just a photo caption.

My wife is an avid scrapper. There are a number of sites that can give you ideas and more fonts than anyone needs to choose from. Creating Keepsakes is one source she uses (both their print magazine and the web site). There endless options for layout of your pages from simple to over the top.

I scrapbook! If you have a photo editing program (I use photoshop elements 10) you can create your own pages. Then you can print them yourself, if you have a large printer, or you can send them out to a company for printing. You can have a book made or just have individual pages made (put into your own binders, I have done both).

You can put as many words on a page as the font you choose allows.

I just looked at some of your pics, CUTE!
You will also have to decide what size book you want: 8x8, 12x12. I have done both. An 8x8 is good for 1 or 2 pics,(possibly 3) and a paragraph or two. 12x12 is great for many photos and a whole page of words. I normally write on the same page with the pictures.

here are a couple I have done:

I have tons of pages, so way too many to show.

thanks! I want it to be a real hard backed book, I guess I'll have to figure out how much text each page will need to have.

yes, you can pre-make the pages, then upload to a company, (I have two that I use), they normally have a couple of styles to choose. Normal book size is 20 pages, then the price goes up per page. I believe you can go up to 100 pages. Even though these books are pretty expensive, they arrive as a great gift. Also, they have sales, so you get your pages done thru out the year, then upload and submit when the sales go on, saves money that way.
If you, yourself are not into doing the pages on your own programs, they have programs also that once you select the photos and upload them, they will throw in the pics. Try Shutterfly or PersnicketyPrints. They have several ways of doing these books.
Hope that helps at least to get you started. :wine:
