I went to a town called Kalgoorlie on the weekend, a goldmining town in Western Australia.
I took a few pictures around town just for interest. It was early morning and the light was bad, I was trying to avoid traffic as the town does get quite busy.
Most of the hotels and buildings shown were built around 1900 at the height of the gold rush. Australian states has had only recently federated to form Australia about this time. It was a new country and feeling its way.
The style of architecture is a bit unique and is known as Goldfields Federation.
The Palace Hotel in the next bracket was the water hole of a young American Engineer by the name of Herbert Hoover. He did all right for himself going on to become President of the USA.
Take it easy.
