Show Off Your Shop

Postby davidniebeling » Sun Apr 07, 2013 7:39 pm

This is my little shop that I am so proud of. It's 12x12 and I built it about 5 years ago. My boys and I love to just go and hang out and be guys in the shop. It truely is my little "man cave". I hope you enjoy and I look forward to checking out YOUR shop. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NsZMKcDO83Y

We finally just did it! In May of 2010 we built this 26x30 shop. 8' doors, 10'6" inside clearance, 12x26 attic storage, 80 amp electric panel. The problem is I put it to use right away and haven't finished the air system! So I still run hoses. Maybe this summer...

I was raised with that saw, Dad let me run it when I was 6-7 yrs old. (strictly supervised of coarse)

And the Walker-Turner...At my Christening they put a cover on it and sat me on it! (I'm 62)

Thanks for the Kind words on my "Old Friends"

Just kuz it scares me (for the record, have a craftsman electronic radial in my shop), I just freak a little having to hold the saw back when I'm drawing it to me. I know if I keep my hands away from the danger zone, and my body out of alugnment with the arm, I'm probably ok. Like any tool, they word is Respect...

Gee nice shops you blokes have. Really good. One can wish.
I wouldn't be game enough to show my shed.
Mine usually looks like the Sunday morning after a Saturday night punch up in the bar of an outback pub.
Nothing like the feel of empty beer cans crushing underfoot. You end up with a sort of checker plate floor eventually.

It's all good.

Take it easy.

WOW, you all have some great shops. I love the classic tools. There are actually groups that collect and restore those older tools.

Mines nothing fancy, in fact this is the pic of After cleaning it out and straightening it out! All my tools are behind the tear on carts on big locking casters that my step father made and I inherited from him. When I work on the tear I pull it out and throw an awning up and work outside so the dust isn't so bad :D. I'm looking to buy a Diy shed that has the roll up door next year and move my tools into it.

The problem with a larger shop is it's just more place to keep stuff. It's amazing how quick it gets cluttered. It's an ongoing battle to keep a clean and open work area. As an example - I picked up a really nice 4x6 drafting table at a great price at a local auction. But now it's just another table to throw things on. I keep telling myself I'll get organized one of these days...

My workshop is constantly covered with sawdust and I love it. Once in a while, I sweep it up, and it just looks too tidy. If you think my woodworking area is bad, you ought to see what my lathe room looks like.......It's great, but messy!

A clean shop is a sign of no work happening in that shop!! I love saw dust! I learned the hard way with a wood lathe tho. I bought my son a lathe for Christmas one year and told my wife we could set it up in the kitchen and I would open the window and throw a tarp down on the floor. (I had obviously never actually USED a wood lathe) On Christmas morning he was so excited and we set it up right away. He chucked up some wood urtned it on and...well...let the wood chips FLY!!! We had wood chips everywhere. My wife was NOT impressed. :x We book it down, cleaned up the mess and moved it outside. About an hour latter we were eating our Christmas cinnimon rolls and my wife found a wood chip in hers. She did NOT see the humor!!! :x  :D
