Pictures from where you live !

Esperance Westoz.
I was ambling home from the hardware store today, beautiful day so I thought I would take some pictures to show the Forum what a dreadful view we have on our way to and from from doing our shopping.
This pristine little port exports large amounts of iron ore and grains. The iron ore is all stockpiled under cover in sheds. The ships are enormous as can be seen but pollution from the loading is almost non existent.
The trains bringing the ore from the inland are around 160 wagons long and are hauled by 4/4200 hp locos. Two up front and two in the middle of the train.
The fishing ain't half bad either.
Not a bad place to set up camp.

Take it easy.

Here are a few from a bike ride I took the other day on Green Mountain. It does sun shine sometimes in Washington State!

Fyddler,
Thanks for the pictures.
Very pretty country you have there.
I always wanted to have a real slow amble around America and soak it all up.
Most of my visits were brief and work associated so I had little chance to look around mores the pity.
Take it easy.

You live in a beautiful country. I hope to visit some day! My cousin visited years ago, ended up bringing back a man who she married. After several years and two kids they just moved back.

I think the ships are cool!!, and Fyddler they are great!, reminds me of waltons mountain or airwolf where Stringfellow hawke lived!

I live in a UK England county called County Durham, in the north east. Most americans know it as close to where Newcastle Brown Ale is made.

Sorry for all the pics but I do like living here!

Its about 50miles wide-ish and is about 70miles from the Scotland/England border

this is Durham City

Image

Image

I live a few miles from here, cant find any pics of my Village on google, but here is my local pub

Image

Our nearest coast is 20mile away, and includes Northumberland, like this

Image

We are also close to Marsden rock, a sea stack

Image

With a great pub next to it called the grotto, lift to get down to it

Image

its meant to be haunted with smuggler ghosts, with rooms like this what you expect?

Image

And other main city is Newcastle (with all its bridges)

Image

Sorry for all the pics!

Webbaldo,

Pretty country. Great pictures.
I have never been to UK. My good wife is a Gosport Gal but knows the country displayed in your pictures. I should have made the effort and done the trip.
My family has been in Oz a while, convict ancestry sad to say.

The way our country is going everyone will be emigrating to OZ anyway!

Years of the labour party giving umemployed what they want has created a welfare state of lay about idiots.

No probs about the convict side, but it is our main Ashes Cricket chant, 'You all live in a convict colony!', to the tune of Yellow Submarine lol.

All taken lightly of course. I'm sure there a lot about us POMS!

Roo Dog,

Don't bemoan 'convict ancestry'. Even though my English
history knowledge is rather cursory, it boils down to, that when
the 'powers that be' steal all the land and then make everything
a 'crime', then of course there'll be 'convicts'. A very cynical way
for them to also populate a new territory.

Cheers,
Norm/mezmo

Norm,

I have the records of my GG Grandfather. Sent out to Van Diemans Land (Tasmania) in the early 1840s for stealing 6 silver spoons. He was 16 and got 7 years. Never returned to England.
There is another relation who was sent out around 1800 his crime was a bit more serious, theft, he copped the death sentence but it was commuted to life, he did all right for himself after his sentence was reduced. He became wealthy and well known.
No I do not bemoan it, it is interesting stuff.

Webbaldo,

We live about 300 metres up the hill from the beach in the pictures.
We go to sleep with the rumble of the ocean as a lullaby.

Thought I would post a pic I just took of the USS Stennis coming home to Bremerton, WA. Having micro brew and soup at a local pub then home early to work on the trailer.

Impressive without a doubt.
Thanks for the picture.
