Teardrop Art ?

Postby ALAN GEDDES » Wed Oct 26, 2005 9:19 am

Is there much out there ? Surely there are posters, paintings etc of our beloved tears somewhere. I have only come accross a few. If you know of something let's see it please. Mike; If enough shows up how about an Art sticky ?

Alan,
This is a link to one of my favorites by Richard Neuman. It is the "blueprint" for my TD.

Those would be cool stamps to put on Christmas cards this year.

My puter is still broke (REALLY broke I’m afraid), I can’t build yet, and so I’m bored. So, I did what I have planned to do for a long time. I made some camper art to hang in it once It’s built. I know, it’s a blatant rip-off of Richard Neuman’s work. I even “borrowed” his background to use. But, the art is all mine…no puter, no rulers, just pen and colored pencils. Here is my afternoon project, "Weekend At The Gulf":

Dale,

I like that... If everyone here thinking about an unusual designs could do pictures like that, it would be so revealing, not just for the guys on the forum, but the builder as well.

Dale,

Great picture! The Squidget looks great at the shore. Maybe you should go into competition with the 'ToonMan' :D

Dale,

Really nice art work! Gives me an idea for Christmas Cards. Drawing pictures would probably go quicker than building doors... seemed every piece of wood I cut today will end up as kindling... oh well, just that kind of day I guess. Ok as long as it doesn't get to be a habit.

Thanks for sharing your "weekend at the gulf"

What does the ToonMan do that I should compete with? I'm not familiar with him.

Mostly renditions of rod rods (I think). He is a member on this board and probably will read this and respond.

I used to draw my cars when I was younger, and customize them on paper. I never did actually customize one, except for a Ford yellow paint job on a 63VW with racing stripes on the lower sides similar to the Ford GT. I did it because I had the engine souped up and it would outrun the later model VWs on the road with larger engines. It was a poor man's sports car...lol.

Nice picture. I like it. I'll ask you the same question I asked ToonMan. What did you use to color it. It looks like water colors or pastels. I tried oil pastels and wasn't happy with the results.

Cracker39, believe it or not, I colored the truck by sticking my finger in coffee. Then I used some red & brown chalk which I smeared with another finger. And just a smidgen of blue to suggest the windows.

Here's a tip: let your coffee cool first.

That settles it...If you want to be an artist, go to the kitchen to see what you have to use...LOL. After all, the early americans (e.g. Indians) used different plants for colors. I think I'll get some chalk pastels. I thought oil pastels would work, but the chalk pastels smooth out better. You put just enough color in yours to do the job. That's one of the things I like about it.
