Pliers for fastners

Postby Forrest747 » Sat Jun 22, 2013 1:10 am

I bought the wrong type of snaps for fabric. i got the long ones for like thick canvas so going to order some shorter ones. when putting the vinyl together the thing i hated was it sucked taking it out hit with hammer and hope you didnt mess up. is there some sort of pliers i can use so i dont have to keep going back and forth. Zach as I recall had the same issues with his vinyl tops. Thanks.

BTW making my own side tents that will snap onto the roof on one side of the tent. thanks

Do you mean something like this?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ukXnzFbxRc&feature=player_detailpage
Just do a google search on grommet setting pliers, most come with different heads for various types of fasteners.

well i did some more research and found that the buttons do not come in black. which is a bummer, so i was doing some more research and the leather guys have a nice tool and some good advice, or i could go with the more heavy duty hammer set. while reading a leather forum they talk about modifying an arbor press to do it. None of the hand held tool seem to be right. i just dont know enough. if i am going to be buying a tool to make my own awnings and covers i want it to work.

I use a hammer set in an arbor press. No mods to the hammer set or arbor press. I use the press to push on the hammer set instead of using a hammer blow.
