A Love Poem for you...

A Love Poem

I will seek and find you
I shall take you to bed and have my way with you .
I will make you ache, shake & sweat until you moan &
groan.
I will make you beg for mercy, beg for me to stop.
I will exhaust you to the point that you will be
relieved when I'm
finished with you.

And, when I am finished, you will be weak for days
.

All my love,

The Flu

Now, get your mind out of the gutter and go get your
flu shot
Some things are way over my head !! ...but it keeps me looking UP!

Sounds like it could also be the Teardrop Bug...
BTW-I don't believe in getting flu shots... Never had one, never will.
Now if I could just remember to take my vitamins each day, huh TDN?

I spent 22 years in the Air Force and had to get one every year without a choice. I have never had the flu! Been retired 10 years and last year is the only time since I was 20 years old that I did not get a flu shot.

Hi all,

I work in a nursing home, and it's mandatory to get a flu shot. Also good hand washing, staying home when sick, and antiseptic wipes for all guests. Out of 400 residents,200 employees last year, only 1 case of the flu, impressive ! Sounds weird ,but in the winter I open public doors with the bottom of my coat, push doors open with my elbow, keep my hands away from my eyes, nose, and mouth,as much as possible. I got the flu 2 years ago, because that year I didn't get a shot. Both wife & I work with people, and that's why we get the shots. Humans are like rats, they carry disease too. When was the last time you had a rat cough,or sneeze in your face with out putting it's paw over it's mouth. Yeah ,I know I will be fried for that comment, but it's true.

:drofl: Yeah, if you've ever followed a woman out of the bathroom that barely (if at all) washes , no I take that back... only RINSES her hands, well... I won't get gross with that.. hahahaha

And something that I had heard on the Today Show, Matt Lauer had interviewed a doctor about the flu and such, and one thing he pointed out was that these antibacterial soaps and really any cleaning soap ... you have to actually WASH your hands and not just quickly rinse it back off for it to actually kill germs. He suggested that you sing (to yourself) the Happy Birthday song TWICE while washing your hands. That would about the correct amount of time. I actually started doing that !

I am very careful about what I touch as well. I read somewhere that one of the most heavily infected things you can come in contact with is the handle of a grocery cart...

.... and paper money.

Tony just hope you don't get any money that has been in Africa. In some areas the only safe way to carry it is (oh how to put this in PC speak) where the sun don't shine. It gives new meaning to money laundering from overseas.

Hi all,

As stated before, we ARE to wash our hands at least 15-30 seconds, dry, and use alcohol gel afterwards. We can be written up if caught rinsing, and going. It's a pain for us maintenance guys because we have to enter, and re-enter resident rooms several times while working on something. There is even a proceedure for opening, and closing the bathroom doors. I used to work at another nursing home that didn't care, and everyone got the flu. That facility was under state quarantine, last year because of the flu. The one I work at now is an upscale home, and they DO care, and it shows.

I am supposed to take my vitamins, but have gotten out of the habit lately. When I did take them regularly, especially "C", I never even got a cold. I'm 66 and have been getting a flu shot every year since before I turned 60, and have never had any bad side effects, nor have I gotten the flu.

I hate using public rest rooms where there no paper towels. I see enough guys leave without washing their hands that I don't want to even touch the door handles after washing mine. Most rest room doors open inward, so you have to pull a handle (and for safety reasons, they should open outward). So, I use a paper towel or toilet tissue to grab the handle, and discard it in the nearest trash can after I'm out. Am I Persnickity? Overreacting? Maybe. But, am I Healthy? YES.

Sometimes I pretend to be normal. But, that gets boring...so I go back to being me.

The stores around here have started putting wipes (anti-bacterial) next to the grocery carts. Think I'll start using them.

I saw a 20/20 story about germs, I found a website that lists the myths listed in the story. Some are common sense but a couple were interesting.

20/20 Story: Germs, the Dirty Dozen - Myths, Lies and Straight Talk
Tonight's 20/20 covered Germs, the Dirty Dozen - Myths, Lies and Straight Talk. Here are the myths according to 20/20:

1. Flu shots keep the flu away: Helps keep the flu away, but only 70-90% effective

2. It's safe to eat at your desk: Nope, a typical desk has 400 times more bacteria than a toilet seat

3. The kitchen is the cleanest room: Nope, the kitchen can have the deadliest germs in the house

4. It's okay to dip your chip: Nope, gotta watch out for "double-dippers" so you should smooth onto your plate first

5. Keep your makeup to yourself: Yes, you might get bacteria conjunctivitis or E. coli

6. Mouthwash cures bad breath: No, it works temporarily but the dry mouth is causes can create a breading ground for bacteria and make breath worse (keeping the mouth wet would be key since babies rarely get bad breath)

7. You can reuse your water bottle: You can reuse most for a few weeks, but avoid popup sports tops because bacteria from your hands can end up on your mouth

8. Airplane air makes you sick: Nope, germs are being coughed up by those around you (so it's true that being on an airplane can make you sick)

9. The toilet seat is the dirtiest thing in the bathroom: Nope, - the big danger is the floor and getting germs on your hands - and womens' rooms typically have twice the germs of a mens' room (since women stay longer in there and kids often go in there, too). 20/20 also recommends that women should never put their bags on the floor. They also say don't use air dryers since they blow uncleaned bathroom air onto your hands.

10. Soap is soap: The biggest helper is not anti-bacterial soap, but washing your hands with strong friction for 30 seconds. The best scenario is also when you keep the water running and dry your hands before you turn off the sink with a dry towel. Also, a clinical study says anti-bacterial soap doesn't help. Also, a study shows that 25% of men and 10% of women don't wash their hands in public restrooms.

11. A dog's mouth is cleaner than yours: Don't forget where dogs put their mouths so dog's mouths are actually quite yucky

12. Hospitals keep you safe from germs: No, deadly germs and viruses exist everywhere, so be very careful! In fact, germs in hospitals kill more than aids, breast cancer and automobile accidents combined.
