Slightly off topic gun control question ??

Postby OverTheTopCargoTrailer » Sun Jul 07, 2013 5:49 pm

Now folks while just listening to the talking heads , they were rattling along about "our right to bear arms" is guaranteed in our fine constitution.

Then they rattled on about is it FAIR .... That we would all own an AK47 ??

So here is my stupid thought !!!! In 1787 everybody had a muzel loader, fire as fast as you can load.
Everybody got a fair & equal chance

Today is it fair, that soon we only get a 10 round clip in an AK47 & there is no amio for sale WHILE - the gov has machine gun that fires 5000 rounds of 50 cal uranium depleted amio in under 60 seconds, the gov now has 1,000 or 10,000 TIMES the firepower we have ......?????

Now I'm not a gun nut PRO OR CON !! But I'm just curious nobody ever looks at it from this point of view or makes this argument ? how much firepower is enough ?
So throw out your opinion , my opinion is we should both be "more equal" this 1,000 to 1 ratio does not seam fair.

The Constitution was adopted on September 17, 1787, by the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and ratified by conventions in eleven States. It went into effect on March 4, 1789.[2]

I have a 45 cal muzzle loader target rifle and 44 cal cap and ball. I can hold a six inch group at 25 yards with the 44 and a round ball.
If you are a hunter and need more than two shots, you should go hungry. Semiautomatics have one purpose to kill people and my understanding is that Australia has banned them, and have had no mass shootings since (correct me if I am wrong).

I have heard since Australia upped their laws, crime went up (though I haven't looked into it myself).
My piece is a cz p-07 with a 12 round clip of .40 cal. Been thinking of getting my CW permit.
As far as controlling the fire power of the people, I don't like it. If someone wants to hurt someone else, they will find a way to do it. Legally or not, they will find a way to get a weapon. Why take guns out of the hands of responsible gun owners?

And remember the last thread started about guns didn't go so friendly, I know people are passionate about the subject but lets be civil. :R

We can never go backwards to 1787 ways; nor, would we want to. Children aren't allowed to have guns; so, even if they wanted to, they can't fight back against an AK47 (or any other gun, for that matter). It's hard for anyone to fight back against an AK47. Limiting the number of bullets that a gun can shoot before having to be reloaded allows a slim chance to overtake a crazy or to maybe find better cover/hiding places; but, at least, it's something. I think I understand what you are suggesting; but, it's hard to know where to draw the line.

Further, if you go back through history, you will see that many revolutions have been put down by the powers held by the government, even before automatic guns. I think that you will also see that, in recent times, many large masses have proven that peaceful demonstrations, publicized to the world, sometimes work better than the alternative (but not always). Perhaps the best weapon that anyone has is a level-headed, fast working mind to find a solution to any problem. Often, being in a group will not only gain one more safety but a meeting of minds to find the best solution.

Yes, there are other ways to wreak havoc and some people have used them. Some of those ways are easier to use and/or destroy and some, harder, depending on the level of surprise. The bottom line is that that there is a level of evil that exists and all we can do is to try to find ways to avoid, limit, or squelch it to fight it.

Don't know if any of you guys watch future weapons tv show ?
It's from around 2005 - I bet the stuff is 10x better now

Our Gov got stuff that scares the crap out of me ,
I don't even wanna discribe it to you - that's how ugly it is.
Plus I don't wanna float any stupid ideas.
What happens if 2 Sargents with 5 tours, a divorce & PDS take one of these toys out for a spin ?
Just because it hasent happened yet - does not mean it won't.

If you guys watch that show - I think you will get my drift.

My question is why does nobody talk or pay attention to that side of the equation ?? Do we really need a to spend billions for more & more ? Where will it stop ?

Das ist mein Schiff !!

Prem so you also worked at Roswell :D :D :D

The best part about us having weapons we don't need,
It allows the Chinese to steal them, make them & sell them cheaper &
One day we will see how well they work :D :D :D

I just saw some pics of the new Chinese stealth fighter :D :D :D

Our only hope will be to live in California, because they already own 3/4 of the state
So we can have a job loading their planes

An AK47 is a semiautomatic firearm and is no different from any other semiautomatic firearm such as a pistol or semiauto shotgun. fully automatic firearms are illegal thanks to the National Firearm Act and if you do own one, it requires a tax stamp which costs 200 and a 6month to 1 year background investigation by the feds. Let's not even mention that they start at $20-30k a piece. There has NEVER need a crime committed by an NFA own firearm. Now illegal firearms can be full auto but they are criminals who own them and more gun laws will not stop a criminal. When was the last time a criminal followed the law?

This is what I find interesting, Gabby Gilfords is deemed mentally incompetent due to the shooting yet she has been parading around with firearms and shooting them which is ILLEGAL according to ATF rules. Diane Finestine (sp) of Calif is bent on removing all firearms yet she carries a pistol for her own protect against the mere citizens. How about that for tyranny.

The number of bullets in a magazine does not change the amount of bullets able to go down range. I can easily change magazines or clips depending on the firearm.

You can't fight against a criminal by talking them down and they will not give up their guns if the targets were unarmed. What you are suggesting is foolish.

Billions on what? The armed forces that protect you and preserve our god given rights from others that want to do us harm?
