We are all subject to a recall by the manufacturer at any moment, fortunately mine was just a very expensive roto-rooter for a plugged artery. But with the parents and elder relatives we do what we can. One of the reasons for our trip to California was to see my last male uncle who reached 96.

Slow, that just re-inforces my thinking that I don't want to get involved with some 80 year old chick that may rub me out just to get my house, teardrop and car. Now, If I could meet some multi-millionare gal...........hmmm that might be a different story. Naw, I'm content doing my own laundry, scrubbing floors, making the bed, grocery shopping, watching TV and changing channels every 2 minutes (with no one complaining), cooking and washing dishes and cleaning out the cat crap from the mortar box in the bath tub, every day.

My dog and 2 cats, don't even know where I keep my 38 revolver, so hopefully, I don't have to be worried about getting shot, since I am one of those logiical 80 year old targets that you are talking about. You know, I have come to realize, that when you live alone, all of your irritaing habits, seem to evaporate, it's just like magic!! I never want to be reminded of any of my bad habits, ever again. Whew, do my socks stink, and No, I won't take out the garbage until tomorrow morning........So there!" OK, I'll wash the car later.

I had dads cusin call up and tell him the bad news with what happened to another set of cussins and the sad thing he hasn't seen any of them since the 70s.

I also had this happen to a ranch couple down the road from the ranch I worked on a few years back in 2005.

seems the cure is to get to visiting them older folks espieacly the old ones out on the remote ranches in wyoming and do your best to help get them happy!

natrona county sherriffes department after the waltman, wyoming shooting made there deptys on the patrols stop in a visite all the old timer ranchers to see if they were alive and keep them in good happy moods.

it happens folks and its getting more comon the murder sucides among older folks.

so if you got a elderly neigbor drop in and say hi and lets keep the old timers happy and there hands off the triggers!

slow. NOT KIDDING THIS IS REAL STUFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good post. I agree 100% and am glad to hear the Sheriff's department is being proactive checking on the locals. With my new trailer I'll definitely be able to go visit my folks more often and stay for longer periods. It's so much easier to travel when I can be spontaneous and bring the dog along.
