Things that don't fit anywhere else...

jingle bell run

My Wife and one of the neighbors have been working on a project for the last month, They have been putting together a Jingle bell run to Waveland MS. I had never heard of the city, but like all that was close to New Orleans it was hit pretty hard. Peg and Jana decided they would rent a truck and take toys to the kids and small electronics to the teens, for Christmas.

After Reading the story that A fella posted a few weeks back about that fella’s troubles in the deuce and a half, I was Kinda like uh, maybe 2 girls with small kids shouldn’t do this. (Yes they think its very important for our Children to participate) I told my wife that Thompson carpentry would be very happy to donate truck and trailer, and the fuel to complete the trip. Also feeling like I can lend a hand on the protection end of things as well.

Here is a site that has some news of Waveland. About half way down click on the Wal-Mart reference. http://risingfromruin.msnbc.com/daily_dispatches.html

Wish us luck!

Secret Santa, Willy, Peg, Jana, Rob, and a few little Elves

Wife will be putting together an "official Announcement" in a few days that will tell more about it, and I will forward that to the lists as well.

Oh, And on a side note my 7x14 foot enclosed trailer will be coming back from there,(New Orleans area) to the Milwaukee, wi. Area empty, if there are any ones projects that need to be hauled, I have hauled Sprites, midgets, Miata's, a big healey. All comfortably inside.. I am also pretty confident a ttt or td could fit inside..
I would charge a small amount for shipping, and donate it to the Toys fund. You could get your car or project shipped, AND help the kids out. Hard to beat that eh?.

Willy,

That's a very inspiring story about what your wife and neighbor have put together. I have a neighbor lady and her small children that are also collecting toys for a trip to Mississippi mid December. I guess this sort of thing is happening all over the country, too bad we have to have disasters to find out there are lots of really good hearted nice people out there.

the "official" announcement

Holiday Help
for the Victims of
Hurricane Katrina!

Hurricane Katrina was the most destructive and deadliest natural disaster to hit the United States. The town of Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi, took a direct hit – all homes and business were damaged and most were completely destroyed.

The men and women of the Bay Saint Louis Public Works department have been working around the clock since the storm hit to get the town back on its feet. They are the front line of defense during and following the storm, clearing the way for police and firefighters to do their jobs.

These public works employees have all been forced out of their homes and are now living in FEMA trailers. With so much work to do, not only for their town, but for themselves as well, and so few resources to work with, these folks are going to need some help to bring some cheer to their families this holiday season.

On December 19th, my family and I will be driving a donated truck and trailer to this area to deliver gifts directly to the Public Works employees and their families in time for the holidays.

You can help by adopting a specific family or family member from our list, or by donating new toys or gift cards for: Walmart, Home Depot, Menards, JCPenney, Sears or Old Navy. (Bay Saint Louis businesses are still closed; however these stores have re-opened in Gulfport, about 25 minutes away.) Thank you!

Please contact Peg Rousar-Thompson at 262-598-0834 ([email protected]) for more information.
