Kurt was sittin' in the nose bleed seats with the "paying" fans...I guess there just wasn't enough room for him down at the tables(snicker snicker). I must say he did look a little green though...maybe he will learn a lesson, only time will tell.
My congratulations go out to Tony, Zippy and the whole #20 team for a job well done...also to Nextel and the France family for a helluva season...and now for next year...it is only 71 days till the Budwieser Shootout at Daytona and 79 till the first CUP race of the season at Daytona

MadJack,

Didn't you notice the knowing look Tony gave him during his speech, like 'I know where you are & it'll get better'.

Plus I think he (kurt) handled it well, no untoward comments aimed at anyone, and kept his allegienge(sp?) to his sponsers. I beleive a couple more years of maturing, and that young man will do alright.

Now personally, watching this whole incident, makes me glad I don't work for Roush Racing... And I would find it probable that he will have employee loyalty problems in the future... knowing that I can be kicked to the curb at a hint of a bad publicity situation, would not endear much loyalty in my heart...

But when you put kids in these high pressure/high profile situations, aren't you asking for this kind of problem?

But that is just my opinion of this.

Wright, I missed the first part of the show and didn't see Kurt make his speech...I am glad to hear he behaved himself...I agree about kids in a pressure cooker...I dislike Rousch for other reasons BUT they have covered up supposed misbehavior by Kurt in the past and this time Crown Royal put pressure on Jack to let Kurt hang...since Kurt was leaving to go to Penske at the end of the season, I guess he saw no reason to to to bat for Kurt...hopefully Kurt can turn himself around and live up to his potential...just look at Tony

I agree MJ, Especially a sponsor like Crown Royal having a "Driver" arrested for DUI? It would have been worse for them NOT to do anything. The Penske thing was already a done deal so it's no skin off their noses.

I don't get to watch much of anything anymore. Sorry if I'm not too current on the whole NASCAR thing.

Actually, the right thing for CR and Roush Racing to have done was to have gathered facts before making a rush judgement.

Kurt was stopped for reckless driving. His BA level was something like 0.0124, about 8 times less than the legal limit. I wonder if it was a deputy with an attitude cause he had stopped a celebrity. The sherrif of the town is actually under review for abuse from other cases. http://www.fastmachines.com/archives/nascar/003335.php I am far from Kurt Busch fan but, I believe this whole situation was mishandled by Roush Racing. Granted, Kurt was not in contention but, the suspension was a little quick. I wonder what would have happened if Kurt was in the top 3 in points when the incident happend....
Started many, finished none... Bought a TTT <Sigh> ;)

8) Sheriff Joe is always under the microscope and has been accused of abuse but still gets elected time after time. Some don't like that his inmates wear pink boxers and eat balony sandwiches. He has chain gangs both male and female. The fact is Kurt B was traveling so fast right near a housing community, anyone of us would of gone strait to jail for that type of reckless driving. Alot of people don't like the Sheriff's views but it's easy don't look for trouble espacially in a town your not familiar with. Eddie in Phoenix

That's right, He is the Sheriff that has the inmates stay in tent cities. Quoted as saying, "If it's good enough for our troops, it's good enough for the prisoners."

Doug, they did review his year as with all the others. No cracks were made by the Emcee, but when Bush got up there he made a small crack about being away and then went about his speach nothing futher being said about his year end.

Have a good day.

P.S. I think Nascar should put a starting age limit of 25 years and also a 5 year requirement in another major race series.

thanks Gage....that's what I was looking for... and I would agree with you on this one about the 5 year thing....Nascar will end up with too many chuckle-heads like Kobe Bryant without it.....It's a growing fast paced sport and I think that Nascar has the opportunity to mold it the way they want and to weed out all the trouble makers from the get go...but the way it is set up..I think the sponsorship will do that...It'll be fun to see where it is in the years to come....and I know that others might not agree with this train of thought...but I think Nascar is smarter than most of the "ball" leagues and realizes that they can turn this into something greater than the NFL, NBA., etc...(please note I avoided the "juiced up" baseball crowd)....time will tell.....I've been following it since the late 60's...when all you got was a few minutes on "Wide World of Sports"...I think that the ball "thugs" better clean up their act...rap, hip hop "in yer face. P Diddy, Snoop Dog" bs isn't going to make the sport grow, maybe in the short term...but not in the long run...however the only measurement of that will be in sponsorship dollars...it may take a while...but I think it'll happen....this is a sport where it is completely possible that a driver might not end up alive at the end of the race, (3), and to the chagrin of a lot of PC types out there...they actually pray before the start of a race...maybe for good reason....and while I'm no Bible Beater...I would love to see what happens to someone that gives that person heat when they do the invocation at the start of the race....Just my opinion though!!!Doug
