I thought it might be fun to see some photos of people and their first cars and or hot rods....here's mine, not my first...that one was way short lived....I'm 17...thought I had the world by the short hairs...51 Chev. Suburban....235 6 with headers, photo is post wreck...the whole front clip was wiped out......shag carpeting and a crappy stereo....1970....I did most of the work on it...painted the windows...what was I thinking?...note the plex rear windows...brown bottle look...any others out there willing to post? PS a follow up....I got busted for fishing out of season and lost all my equipment..had to go to court to get it back, judge determined I had to do 100 hours of service, public or private...Dad had me paint the house that summer!!!! Not my first either. 1933 Willys with a 350 Chevy and a 4-71 Supercharger on top. Only weighed 2300 pounds and a foot shorter than a VW

This is the only photo I have of my 1st car sorry about the quality. When I was 16 my dad took $600 bucks that I was saving for a car and bought this big old boat for me :x . I wanted to kill him until I got to drive it :shock: . The car was a 66 Belair, and it was a retired Highway patrol interceptor 8) . A Dual Quad 283 with an overdrive, backed with a 252 rearend :twisted: . To this day it is the fastest car I have owned. I’m lucky to be alive :worship: … I drove the car for over ten years until it was rear ended in a snowstorm :x . The hart of it still sits in my garage waiting to beat again :twisted: .

first car (cost $75 and I never got to drive it) looked just like this;
Image

first hot rod looked like this:
Image[/url]

In between there was a '72 four-door Torino and a pair of '73 Dusters.

Then I got the first truck -- a 318 shortbed four-on-the-floor. Wish I could say I never looked back, but there have been cars. The '84 Reliant wagon I had awhile in '90, and the '86 LeBaron still sitting in my mother in law's yard.

There've been some great trucks, though. Ramchargers and pickemups rule!
Mopar's what my busted knuckles bleed, working on my 318s...

Doug, do I have you fooled :o , my garage only looks clean because that shot is were I cleared out to start the teardrop. Note the wood behind the motor that is hiding all of the junk :oops: – no goodies that I have piled up. Trust me a wide shot would be right at home in the most out of control shop competition. Your shop has a nice worked in look about it. Regards Dan

This isn't a great shot of my first car, but the only one I have on the puter at the moment. I think I have a better picture in a box somewhere and will look for it. In 1956, just after I graduated high school, I bought this nice '53 Ford 2-door. The couple in the pic is my first wife and I before we were married, taken in '57 or '58 somewhere in Florida where I was "born and raised".

This is my 2nd car, bought in 1960, a two-toned green 56 Chevy 210, 4-door. Even back then, I was "practical". This one had a 6 cyl and the GM 2-speed auto trans. Three years later, I bought my first NEW car, a 1963 VW. It was still coated with cosmoline protectant from the boat trip from Germany. I owned and drove VW beetles and a van until the early '90s. You either loved them or hated them. I loved them.
