Woulda bought another HF trailer today but . . .

Postby Geron » Wed Dec 14, 2005 6:23 pm

Went by the HF Store in Marietta today and checked on the 1800# trailer. Computer said they had 6 in stock. Boy went back to check - nada.

I had my CC out ready to buy my second trailer for my second TD all to no avail. Maybe they can order me one in.

Some Ideas for the second one:

5ft wide!!!!!
3/4 inch sides no insulation (advantec??)
Insulated floor and ceiling
No aluminum siding - Paint or rot doctor stuff
LARGE radiused (sp) doors or SQUARE doors
All mouldings designed from local available materials
All cabinets totally utilitarian designed around stuff I use.

MAYBE I should finish my first one first ;)

I feel your pain..... very annoying to finally make up your mind and think it's going swimmingly only to have the proverbial rug pulled out from under you.... sure seems like their inventory should not be that far off, though.

When I got my new one, I called them twice and also asked about using the 20% coupon... did not want any nasty surprises after driving 2 hours.. And for the price I paid, it can sit here for a couple of months, at least I know I've got it..

I had to go to Marietta anyway and while I was there picked up some pipe clamps for 1.99 each. Also got a couple of multimeters, one for 1.99 the other for 2.99. Batteries were dead in them but for that price I just couldn't pass them up.

Gonna call tomorrow and see if they can secure one for me for pickup at the store to save paying freight.

Geron advantec, huh? Stuff is pretty good we use it for subflooring. Weathers fair over time, it has a tendency to become a little brittle around the edges. It also turns a shade of dark brown almost moldy colored after some time getting rained on. However a good scrub and its gone. Just a little insight.

Darn, you are right, they changed the coupon..... M/J, you saved me and my bro about $70.00 with that 20% coupon..... and evidently I caught it just in time, about 4 days ago..... I would have been bummed out if I had missed it...

After you posted the url for the coupon, I searched high and low to try to find it on the net.... and could not. Meaning, trying to get a hit on the search (I, of course, already had the url).

How did you find it in the first place?

I've had real good experiences with it also. Use it for subflooring on my house and using it one the one I'm building now.

Had a piece left over and used it as the bed for one of my 4x8 trailers. Been weathered now for about 5-6 years and is still in good shape. NO paint just weathered advantec. I will take a look at the edges. Thanks for the heads up. Might have to go with something else but the edges would be sealed and coverd with trim of some kind. Aestheticlly the advantec looks like OSB - not really attractive but I would go with durability over aesthetics. That stuff really holds up well. Another problem is it is tongue and groove - could work around that.

Arne...someone posted it here back before summer and I bookmarked it then...have only used it once but have checked on it regularly...until now it has always been for 20% with the expiration date being regularly updated...maybe too much usage during the Christmas season...hopefully it will go back after the holidays...

Now, that's a gooder, too..... In my case, the 20% on one item worked because it was by far the larger item, but 10% off the toal is also very good.... and that one has been bookmarked as well..

I've never been able to find any of these with google.
