Way off Topic

I'm also watching the Barrett Jackson auction and I just got the shock of my life. A 1964 Amphicar just sold for $115,000. Heck that thing when it came to the states wasn't a good car, let alone a boat. Just goes to show you, there were two people that felt they couldn't live without it. :?

The thing about that car. You didn't have to do anything different when you decided to go in the water. The props were always turning and the front wheels then became the rudders. A front steer boat, that's different.

Have a good day.

There was one here when I was a kid. He would put it in the river at a ferry ramp. But for over $100K a yacht would be better

$100K is not too bad. Check this one.

Aw, a true Thunderbolt, and a M/T at that. It'll go much higher. Wonder why he didn't take it to Scottsdale. Probably had a reserve price set.

Have a good day.

I can think of a certian senator from my state who wishes he had one of those. :tipsy:

My good friend bill had one of these and it was a lot of fun. I think he paid $3,000 for it. Sold it for $15,000 or $16,000 about five years ago. I bet he will wish he held onto it when I tell him how much this one went for.

The Props aren't actually turning all of the time you have an in out type of lever to engage them.
Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it kind? Ask yourself these simple questions every time you are in doubt about any action.

Hey Doug,

On the west coast it comes on at 2pm and runs right through the evening on the speed channel. Not only an auction but a great car show.

I can think of a guy next door to me that has one and he'll be tickled pink to read this.
I know its the photographer, and not the camera. I'll keep shooting with a Pentax. Just in case.
