Danny,
Once back in the 70's, I made an electric mouse trap. Used strips of brass shim stock to make a grid, then wired it up to 480 Volts. We had a mouse that came out every night by our break table in the maintenance shop where I worked. Anyway he did his usual and walked out from under the cabinet the coffee pot was on and right onto the electified grid. I expected him to explode when he got between the 480 volt strips, but he just stood there and quivered for a few seconds, then slowly walked away. After that he never did move very fast.

I wonder if he had a stroke. I always wanted to wire up a Eugenia bush that the neighborhood dogs always hit but couldn't bring myself to do it. I had a impulse sprinkler with a sensor to ward off dogs, it even got the UPS man, he thought it was funny. This bug zapper will make bugs pop with a flash and smoke the larger bugs. Danny

I have no less than 3 around the house, not so much for the skeeters as the horse flies! And they really pack a punch if ya touch 'em too. zeeeeet!

And it would probably be a great motivational tool for teens who want to sleep all day.

I got a few of them too.

The problem?

If you're too old and feeble to reach them with a REGULAR swatter, these electronic ones don't help you at all.

But it's fun when you ARE successtul.

Hey, I've got one of those. Use it all the time. Some day I'll see how it works on bugs.
I know its the photographer, and not the camera. I'll keep shooting with a Pentax. Just in case.

Ira,

I've seen the bugs you guy have down there in Florida. Forget the flyswatter. You need one of these ...

LOL...that reminds me of a dog problem I once had. A big dog would visit in the night, and turn over my garbage cans. So, first, I put the metal can on a rubber mat outside the back door. Next, I stripped the ends of the wires on an extension cord. I wired one wire to the can handle and the other end to a metal rod that I hammered into the ground next to the rubber mat. Then, I soaked the ground REAL GOOD around the can. I plugged in the cord and went to bed. Late that night I heard a ruckus outside. In the morning, the can was still undisturbed. There were dog tracks (walking) going to the can. There were dog tracks (running fast) going away. I could tell he was running because his claws dug up the dirt. From that day on, that dog would pass the house, stop and look, then keep on going. My garbage cans were never bothered again.

I’ve heard that if you can cause some pain to a dog without him seeing who did it he will be superstitious and never come back. It's too bad you can't get the deadbeat owner. :applause:

We received one of those bug zappers for Christmas from some friends. I am almost looking forward to mosquito season to try it out.

You have a MOSQJITO SEASON??? If you can't wait for them, come to Florida. Our mosquito season runs from Jan 1 to Dec. 31. Anytime the temp gets over 70, out they come. Thank goodness the Love Bugs have a season and only appear for a few weeks in May and October. I'll take the entire year of skeeters over the Love Bug seasons. I hate those critters.
